2023-24 Fantasy Hockey Week 14 Weekly Planner

As we move into another week, we will see some teams reach the halfway point of their season. That is upsetting, right? Let's not mention it again, and get into the 2023-24 Fantasy Hockey Week 14 Weekly Planner instead.

It's a new week, and we have a dogfight at the top of the NHL league standings. As of Sunday, there are six teams separated by two points for the best record in the NHL. The Avalanche, Bruins, Canucks, Jets, Panthers, and Rangers will try to end the week with victories to prove that they are the rightful leaders.

Who is in the best position to lead the league when the week concludes?

We will get into that now with the 2023-24 Fantasy Hockey Week 14 Weekly Planner!

2023-24 Fantasy Hockey Week 14 Weekly Planner

January 8, 2024 – January 14, 2024

Top Targets

Vincent Trocheck, Center, New York Rangers (83% Rostered)

In what is becoming a point-per-game season, Vincent Trocheck should be rostered in all fantasy leagues. Especially when he has been paired with Artemi Panerin who has been producing at an MVP-like pace.

Trocheck enters the new week with 38 points (10 goals and 27 assists) in his 38 games played. You'd also be getting a man that is red-hot of late. He's registered two goals and seven assists through his last four games.

The Rangers will be one of the seven teams that will be playing four games during Week 14, so Trockeck will get an extra game over others for production.

Ryan O'Reilly, Center, Nashville Predators (61% Rostered)

After being featured in my 2023-24 Fantasy Hockey New Faces in New Places (https://fantasysixpack.net/2023-24-fantasy-hockey-new-faces-in-new-places/), Ryan O'Reilly is living up to expectations in Nashville.

O'Reilly comes into the new week as the second leading point getting with the Predators, providing the team with 15 goals and 18 assists through his first 39 games. He is also riding a small three-game point streak where he's added one goal and three assists.

It's been easy for the 32-year-old to produce playing alongside Gustav Nyquist and Filip Forsberg. In 331 minutes paired together, the trio are outscoring opponents 21-12 while also outshooting 186-169.

Yegor Sharangovich, Center/Left Wing, Calgary Flames (26% Rostered)

Since ending up in Calgary as a part of the Tyler Toffoli-to-New Jersey trade, Yegor Sharangovich has become a nice piece of the Flames' offense.

The 25-year-old Sharangovich is currently fourth in points with his new team and has been able to land himself on the team's top powerplay unit. And, even though we are only in January, you can expect him to blow his previous career highs in goals and assists goodbye. His 12 goals are halfway to what he had in 2021, and within 10 assists of topping the previous best of 22.

Since being paired together, the line of Sharangovich, Andrew Mangiapane, and Elias Lindholm have brought energy and offense. As of today, they are outshooting opponents when all three are on the ice 95-88.

Injury Alerts

Connor Bedard, Center, Chicago Blackhawks

Coming into the 2023-24 season, Connor Bedard was given a ridiculously high set of expectations. Well, he has surely lived up to the hype and even more. Now, we'll have to put his productive rookie season on pause.

Friday night, Bedard received an open-ice check from New Jersey's Brendan Smith resulting in a fractured jaw. The 18-year-old has been placed on injured reserve and will be out of action indefinitely.

The Blackhawks' offense heavily revolved around the rookie, who has 11 more points than the next man on the team.

William Karlsson, Center, Vegas Golden Knights

The Vegas Golden Knights have placed their third-leading goal scorer, William Karlsson, on injured reserve. It is unknown if Karlsson picked up the lower-body injury at the 2024 NHL Winter Classic, but he has missed two straight games following the New Year's Day clash.

The Knights will hope to get Karlsson back as soon as possible, but 23-year-old Pavel Dorofeyev will fill the void in the meantime. He'll start on the wing of Mark Stone opposite Chandler Stephenson.

Troy Terry, Right Wing, Anaheim Ducks

On Wednesday, Troy Terry was added to injured reserve by the Anaheim Ducks. This comes following an injury that was suffered last Friday when he collided with teammate Mason McTavish.

Terry missed two consecutive games before IR and will likely miss at least a week of action. Max Jones seems to be the top-six replacement for the Ducks, getting time on a line with Trevor Zegras and Adam Henrique.

Team Worth Watching This Week

Boston Bruins

Coming into the season with many questions and predictions of falling down the standings, the Boston Bruins have proved many people wrong. In what will likely be their hardest stretch of games in the season, Week 14 will be worth watching the B's to find out how 'for real' they are.

Boston will hit the road for all four games during the week, starting with a back-to-back with Colorado and Arizona. They'll then meet up with the defending Stanley Cup champions in Las Vegas before traveling back east to St. Louis.

Like last year's team, Jeremy Swayman and last year's Vezina winner, Linus Ullmark, are the anchors of the team. Last year's William M. Jennings Trophy winners are in contention to win again this season and are the main reason this team has the record that they have.

As expected, they are led offensively by David Pastrnak who finished as an MVP finalist last season. They've also had major, unexpected contributions from players such as Charlie Coyle, James van Riemsdyk, and Trent Frederick.
