2023 Devy Week 2 Stock Up-Stock Down

Welcome to the 2023 Devy Week 2 Stock Up-Stock Down. This article each week will go with my Devy Rankings which are updated every week.

This week in College Football was filled with some explosive plays and high scores.

This  entire article for week two could easily be about the Texas Longhorns. They strolled into Alabama and handled business. Quinn Ewers, Xavier Worthy and Ja'Tavion Sanders all had note worthy performances.

Normally this article will contain a few players that have seen their stock drop, but I will wait a week or two before talking about them. Week one can be tricky for these student-athletes so I will wait to see if a trend forms.

Let's get to our Devy Stock Up-Stock Down for the week.

Stock Up

Quinn Ewers, QB, Texas Longhorns, SO

This is the type of performance on the big stage that NFL scouts have been waiting for. Ewers showed no fear in going toe to toe with Alabama on Saturday night. His mistake free performance on the road in a very tough place to play is a signature win for Ewers.

Ewers was sharp all night connecting on 43 of his 68 pass attempts. He threw for 349 yards and three touchdowns against a touch secondary. Caleb Williams is the top QB in this class but behind him the door is wide open. Ewers has the talent and the moxy to be the second QB taken in the NFL draft.

Audric Estime, RB Notre Dame Fighting Irish, JR

What a start to the season Estime is having. He has totaled over 115 yards rushing in two of the first three games and lead the nation in rushing with 345 yards.

He scored twice against NC State including an electric 80-yard scamper to pay dirt. He has a total of four touchdowns already on the season after scoring 11 all of last year

The Irish have a good rushing attack this season that is centered around Estime. He is a guy to keep an eye on the rest of the college season.

Evan Stewart, WR, Texas A&M Aggies, SO

One of my favorite wide receivers coming into the college season Stewart is off to a great start to his sophomore campaign.

Despite the loss, he was a problem for the Hurricanes last night. He hauled in 11 receptions for 142 yards. This is his second game in a row with at least eight receptions and 115 yards.

Stewart is a fast shifty receiver who knows how to get open. The Aggies will continue to showcase him in their passing attack, helping him showcase his talents for the next level.

Ja'Tavion Sanders, TE, Texas Longhorns, JR

The 6'4, 243-pound TE was a force to be wrecking with on Saturday. Sanders lined up all over the field creating mismatches no matter where he lined up.

Sanders averaged 22.8 yards per reception against the Tide. He finished the game with 114 yards on five receptions. Right now Sanders has as good of a case as anyone to be the TE2 in the draft. With games like this, he could play himself into the first round.
