2023 Devy Week 6 Stock Up-Stock Down

Welcome to the 2023 Devy Week 6 Stock Up-Stock Down. This article each week will go with my Devy Rankings which are updated every week.

This week in College Football was filled with some explosive plays and high scores as multiple matchups were ranked opponents facing off against one another.

Has a go-to WR emerged in Alabama? After a big win against Notre Dame does Louisville have the best running back that no one is talking about? Does FSU finally have a runner they can rely on out of the backfield? All these questions and more have seemed to be answered after a glorious week six of college football.

Let's get to our Devy Stock Up-Stock Down for the week.

Stock Up

Jermaine Burton, WR, Alabama Crimson Tide, SR

It only took five games but Jermaine Burton has established himself as the go-to WR in the Alabama offense.

The Georgia transfer averaged 21.9 yards per catch against Texas A&M. He ended the day with 197 yards on nine catches and two touchdowns.

Talent has never been an issue for Burton, he just never seemed to put it all together at Georgia. If he continues to have a good season at Alabama, he should be drafted in the second round and be a productive NFL receiver.

Jawhar Jordan, RB, Louisville Cardinals, JR

Jawhar Jordan, one of the best running backs in the country that no one is talking about but on a show on the national stage against Notre Dame on Saturday.

Jordan ran for 143 yards and scored twice. He now has over 100 in four of the five games played and has eight total touchdowns on the season.

He is a fast running back with a good burst through the hole. His twitchy feet make it easy for him to make defenders miss. Yes, he is still relatively unknown but he is one to keep your eyes on.

Trey Benson, RB, Florida State Seminoles, JR

Finally, this is the Trey Benson performance I have been waiting for.

Benson broke out in a big way against Virginia Tech. He ran the ball for 200 yards on 11 carries and scored twice. He also caught the ball three times.

This was the first time Benson has gone over 100 yards all season but FSU is finally starting to use him in the run game. As the season moves on, he should be incorporated more and more into the offense. That is a scary thought for opposing defenses. Good luck stopping Jordan Travis if they develop a consistent run game with Benson.

Stock Down

As far as stock down goes, some guys are struggling a bit this season. The ones that jump out to me are as follows:

Barion Brown, WR, Kentucky Wildcats, SO

Disappointment is an understatement when you talk about the season Brown is having. Brown is struggling in Kentucky, with only one touchdown and a single 100 yard game so far this season. Despite that, he is still one of my favorite devy WRs and only a sophomore. Now may be the time to try and buy low.

KJ Jefferson, QB, Arkansas Razorbacks, SR

Many had KJ Jefferson pegged as this season Anthony Richardson. A big-bodied QB with a huge arm and can run like a running back. The yards (1,300 passing, 121 rushing) and touchdowns (12) are there but his turnovers are what is concerning. There is still time left in the season to try and correct that, but six interceptions are tied for fourth in the nation.
