2023 Fantasy Baseball Hitting Planner (6/5 - 6/11)

Welcome to the 2023 Fantasy Baseball Hitting Planner (6/5 - 6/11) where I take a look at several teams and hitters to target and avoid for the week.

But first, let me take a minute to talk about the NBA Finals. After a cakewalk in the Western Conference Finals, the Denver Nuggets are looking to grab their first NBA Championship, as they face off against the Miami Heat. However, the Heat did not have as easy of a conference final, as they went the full seven games against the Boston Celtics.

Game 1 was not quite the spectacle that I was hoping, as Denver had the game in full control. Again, the Heat could have been feeling the fatigue while the Nuggets were well-rested. I hope the series revs up and we are in for a full seven-game series. This entire NBA Playoff experience has fully engulfed me.

Currently, I do not have a horse in the race, but let me know in the comments who you are rooting for in the NBA Finals!

2023 Fantasy Baseball Hitting Planner (6/5 - 6/11)

6/5 - 6/11 MLB Schedule

Teams to Target

Atlanta Braves

The Braves are off to a hot start in 2023 as they are currently 10 games above .500 and have a +58 run differential. This week they get to enjoy home cooking as they are set to play all six games at home this week. Meanwhile, Truist Park is currently ranked as the ninth-best park for hits.

The Braves are currently third in home runs as a team, behind only Tampa Bay and the Dodgers. As well as the top five in runs scored in all of baseball and the top three in the National League.

This week's two series has the Braves facing off against the Mets and the Nationals. Both of them rank in the bottom 10 of team ERA as both teams have a 4.50 or worse team ERA.

Even though the Braves have to face Scherzer, Carassaco, and Verlander. Scherzer has had his struggles versus Atlanta as he owns a career 3.77 ERA and Carrasco owns a career 4.30 ERA versus Atlanta.

Then they get to face off against the Nationals who have given up the seventh most home runs while on the road, as well as the ninth most hits as a road team. I would be plugging in all the Atlanta hitters in my lineup with confidence.

New York Yankees

Similar to the Braves, the Yankees get the home cooking as well as the friendly confines of Yankee Stadium. The Yankees will also play their six games at home this week.

Even though the Yankees have had their struggles this season thus far. Things seem to be turning a corner as of late. In the past 15 days, the Yankees have hit the second most home runs (22) and scored the fourth most runs (68). Additionally, the team is getting on base 30% of the time with a .757 OPS.

Lastly, they get to face off against the White Sox pitching staff that is currently in the bottom five of team ERA as they surrender almost five runs a game. Then they face Boston pitching which has also been horrible this year.

Team to Avoid

Washington Nationals

The Nationals have been playing better as of late and actually produced the fifth most runs scored in the past two weeks. However, this might be the week that the production is halted.

The first series is against Arizona at home. Surprisingly the Diamondbacks have been a solid team this year. They are currently league average in team ERA. However, in the past month and even the past two weeks, they have gotten good production from their starters, anchored by Zac Gallen.

Then they have to go on the road and face the Braves in Atlanta. Where they will not only face Charlies Morton and Michael Soroka, but the manimal Spencer strider. The Braves are currently top five in team ERA and top six in strikeouts. I would be looking to avoid any of the Nationals hitters.
