Welcome to the 2023 Fantasy Baseball Hitting Planner 8/28-9/3
Today is the day! My home league's in-person Fantasy Football draft is today. While I do enjoy my online Dynasty format leagues, there is just something special about drafting in-person, hanging out with good friends and family, and then being able to talk trash and have the ultimate bragging rights.
This year we are implementing a new way to determine draft order. We will be playing a series of yard games and the overall results will give us the choosing order of the draft order. So essentially, KDS style as draft slot preference is the determining factor.
So I am curious as to what method you and league mates use to determine the draft order. Do you use a randomizer? Or do you use a fun and different way to determine the order? Let me know in the comments.

Teams to Target
Colorado Rockies
This seems like a cheat code this week as the Rockies get all six games at home. According to the StatCast Parkfactor over the past three years, Coors Field has ranked as the best hitter's park. Coors Field also ranks in the top ten for home runs according to StatCast.
Which makes the Rockies a way better team at home. They have scored 314 runs at home which ranks as the seventh most runs scored at home in the league. Furthermore, the Rockies are only one of ten teams to score 300R+ at home this season.
The Rockies have had a bit of a hot streak over the past two weeks. Their 65 runs scored rank in the top 10, and their 16 HR rank in the top half of the league. Their team's .429 SLG% also ranks in the top 10 over that span.
Even with a tough matchup against Atlanta, I would play your Rockie hitters.
Baltimore Orioles
The Orioles have been a bright spot this year, as they are currently 31 games above .500 and have a two-game lead in the AL East division. They have done so by getting their young players and prospects the at-bats and playing time.
The Orioles have scored 627 runs this year so far and are one of only 13 teams to score 600+ runs this season. That currently puts the team at 4.93 R/GM. So at almost five runs a game, you can see why you want to play the Orioles hitters.
They now get favorable matchups this week as they get to face both the White Sox and the Diamondbacks. Both of them rank in the bottom third of the league in team ERA, as they are both surrendering 4.5 runs a game and the White Sox are just shy of five runs a game. Therefore I would be looking to play your Oriole hitters this week.
Team to Avoid
Chicago White Sox
This organization is in shambles right now. They recently fired their President of Baseball Operations and General Manager after yet another underwhelming win-loss record. They also had their star shortstop involved in fisticuffs on the field. There are even reports coming out that the Manager has no influence on the clubhouse and it is a free-for-all.
Not only is the team having off-the-field issues, but they have been in a tailspin on the field as well. Over the past two weeks, they have only scored 50 runs as a team which is the eighth worst among that period. They have also only hit 13 HR as a team which ranks as the fifth worst over that same period. This also explains their eighth-worst OPS and one of only eight teams to not have an OPS above .700, not good.
They will not have any easy feat this week either, as they will face both the Orioles and Tigers who rank in the top half of the league in many important pitching statistical categories. Sit your White Sox hitters this week.
