2023 Fantasy Baseball Hitting Planner (8/7 - 8/13)

Welcome to the 2023 Fantasy Baseball Hitting Planner (8/7 - 8/13).

Hopefully, you have been following along the past couple of weeks, as one of my recommended teams this past week was the Cubs who scored  41 runs in the four-game series against Cincinnati.

I was also able to hit on other several hitters last week. Including Nico Hoerner, CJ Abrams, and others. It's not all roses, however. I did recommend sitting Anthony Santander and he started the week off hot by hitting a grand slam. I will take that "L".

So now let's get into this week's hitting planner and try to find some hitters and teams worth targeting this week.

MLB Schedule 8/7 - 8/13

Teams to Target

Los Angeles Dodgers

There aren't many teams hotter than the Dodgers this year. They rank third in team OPS and have scored the third most runs. They are currently only one of three teams that have scored 600+ runs so far this year. The Dodgers are averaging almost 6 runs a game (5.6).

Since the All-Star there has only been one team better than the Dodgers and that is the ultra-hot Cubs. Since the All-Star break the Dodgers have scored 109 runs and are averaging over 6 runs per game. The Dodgers also have the third-best team OPS and are one of only five teams with a team OPS greater than .800 since the all-star break.

The Dodgers not only get seven games this week, they get four of those games at home. Where they are a top-five team in runs scored, OBP, and OPS. Furthermore, the four games come against the lowly Rockies who own a team ERA of 5.53 which is the second worst in the league behind only Oakland.

Get as many Dodgers hitters as you can in your lineup this week.

Milwaukee Brewers

The Brewers are in the middle of a division race and what better time to get their hitters in your lineups? The Brewers have been quietly putting up solid offensive numbers this season.

They will get six games this week and three of them at home. They have had success at home, as they have hit 60HR+ at home and have a .719 OPS at home.

The Brewers have been very good over the past 15 days. They have scored 100+ runs which rank in the top ten, and have been averaging almost 5 runs a game. They also have been very patient at the plate as they have only struck out 96 times as a team in the last two weeks. Over the past two weeks, they have

Similar to the Dodgers, the Brewers get to play the Rockies at home this week and the Rockies have the second-worst team ERA. The other series is against the White Sox in Chicago and Guaranteed Rate Field ranks as the sixth best for home runs according to Statcast Park Factor

Play your Brewers hitters this week.

Team to Avoid

Cleveland Guardians

Well, where do I start? How about the abysmal performances over the past week from the Guardians? In this past week, Cleveland has only scored 12 runs, which ranks second worst to only the White Sox. That is thanks in large part to being no-hit by the Astros and Framber Valdez last week. They have also been shut out twice last week and only scored 5+ runs once last week. It's safe to say the Guardians are struggling.

The week ahead has the Guardians facing off against the Rays and the Blue Jays. Tampa owns the league's third-best team ERA and the Blue Jays hold the league's sixth-best team ERA. Both of which are below 4.00 and both are hovering right around 3.80.

They will have some tough matchups this week as well. Including games against Gausman, Ryu, Glasnow, Eflin, and Civale. Its safe to say that it might be another tough week for Cleveland.
