2023 Fantasy Baseball Pitching Planner (6/19 - 6/25)

We are getting close to approaching the halfway point on the season! It has been odd to see the weather not warm up as quickly as it usually does in mid-June. Normally, baseballs are soaring and home runs are sent deeper into orbit. However, it is a little different this season. What hasn't changed is the 2023 Fantasy Baseball Pitching Planner (6/19 - 6/25)!

As we head deeper into June and approach the dog days of summer, it is important to start maximizing every single start. Soon enough, we will be talking playoffs... that's right... not practice, but playoffs!

As we take a dive into this week's pitching planner, check out the two-start matchups. There are a lot of studs and duds that need a second look based on the analytics. You may think its a no-brainer to start your ace, but I'm here to make you think differently!

The 2023 Fantasy Baseball Pitching Planner (6/19 - 6/25) also includes a table listing all the two-start pitchers and their grades for each matchup. This table can help when it comes to deciding whether to actually plug in a two-start pitcher or not. Just because you have a pitcher with two starts that week doesn't necessarily mean you should start him!

Two-Start Pitchers

Corbin Burnes, Brewers (ARI, @CLE)

Yes, the Diamondbacks are the best team in the NL. However, Burnes has crushed them in his career. In four starts against Arizona, he is 2-0 with a 1.90 ERA and 31 strikeouts. Despite the tough matchup, I trust him. Then, to finish off his two-start week, he heads to Cleveland to face the lackluster Guardian's offense. They currently have the worst wRC+ (74) at home. Sign me up and let Burnes rip this week.

Dylan Cease, White Sox (TEX, @LAA)

Not the two-start matchups you would like to see for Cease this week. First off, the Rangers are destroying everybody right now. That could be a bloodbath for the righty's first start. To make matters worse, the Angels are no jokes. Cease currently has a 5.34 ERA on the road, and Los Angeles is a top-tier offense when they host. Just stay away from Cease this week. I beg you.

Jose Berrios, Blue Jays (@MIA, OAK)

Berrios started the season poorly. In early May, he had a 5.29 ERA and was unstartable. Now, in mid-June, he's lowered his ERA to 3.61. Heading into his two-start week, Berrios should be feeling good. He has two good matchups -- he starts off with the Marlins before hosting the Athletics. With the way he's been pitching lately combined with these friendly opponents, Berrios is set up for success. Definitely get him in your lineup for this two-start week.

Max Scherzer, Mets (@HOU, @PHI)

Scherzer has definitely been struggling as of late. In his last matchup, against the Yankees, Mad Max gave up six earned runs while only lasting 3.2 innings and recording two strikeouts. He's scuffling, and his opponents don't get any easier. Both the Astros and Phillies have middle-tier offenses, but Scherzer has been struggling on the road in 2023. The righty has an eye-opening 5.35 ERA and 1.39 WHIP away from New York this season. With both starts on the road, the pitching planner advises you to avoid him for his two-start week. Sit the ace.

Merrill Kelly, Diamondbacks (@MIL, @SF)

It's not the friendliest schedule for Kelly next week, but nevertheless, he should be started. The righty is currently leading the league in wins (8) and is sporting an impressive 2.92 ERA on the year. Kelly is also much better on the road this year. He has a sparkling 5-0 record away from Arizona. Furthermore, his ERA is 2.12 in away games. He looks like a stud this year and must be started this week.
