2023 Fantasy Baseball Pitching Planner (7/3-7/9)

Can you believe it is almost July? Baseball is getting close to the halfway point, which means you better nail every single start going forward! Without further ado, here is your 2023 Fantasy Baseball Pitching Planner (7/3 - 7/9)!

The summer sun is going to start beaming down on the league. While the Rockies certainly don't have the league's best offense, I'm starting to get more and more scared of every Coors Field matchup.

As we take a dive into this week's pitching planner, check out the two-start matchups. There are a lot of studs and duds that need a second look based on the analytics. You may think it's a no-brainer to start your ace, but I'm here to make you think differently!

The 2023 Fantasy Baseball Pitching Planner (7/3 - 7/9) also includes a table listing all the two-start pitchers and their grades for each matchup. This table can help when it comes to deciding whether to actually plug in a two-start pitcher or not. Just because you have a pitcher with two starts that week doesn't necessarily mean you should start him!

Two-Start Pitchers

Blake Snell, Padres (LAA, NYM)

Snell has no walk in the park for his two-start week. The Angels and Mets both have above-average offenses in terms of wRC+ -- they can balloon an ERA at any point. While Snell has better stats on the road, he has been on absolute fire lately. The lefty has 0.87 ERA and a whopping 53 strikeouts over his last 31 innings. With how hot he is, you have to send him out there for these matchups.

Aaron Nola, Phillies (@TB, @MIA)

Overall, Nola has been underwhelming in 2023. A large part of that has been his lack of success on the road. As of now, the righty has a 5.34 ERA and a 1.20 WHIP away from Philadelphia. Tampa Bay is the best team in baseball and the Marlins are no joke either. With the way Nola is pitching on the road, he should be avoided for his two-start week.

Clayton Kershaw, Dodgers (PIT, LAA)

Kershaw crushes at home. The lefty currently has a 4-1 record to go along with his sparkling 1.70 ERA and 0.81 WHIP at Dodger Stadium. The future Hall of Famer doesn't have the easiest matchups this week, but look for him to continue his dominance as a host. Kershaw is tied for second in the MLB in wins, so look for him to push to the top next week with his two starts.

Kodai Senga, Mets (@ARI, @SD)

Walks, walks, walks. Senga can't seem to avoid them. His 46 walks are the second most in the MLB, with 24 of them coming on the road. It has been a big reason why Senga has a 4.58 ERA on the road. Simply put, he's pretty bad away from New York. To make matters worse, both the Diamondbacks and the Padres have better offensive stats in their home ballparks. Senga should certainly be benched this week.

Joe Ryan, Twins (KC, BAL)

Big fan of Joe Ryan at home for both games. He's much better in Minnesota where he currently rides a 5-2 record with a strong 2.70 ERA and 0.79 WHIP. The Royals offense is extremely underwhelming and Baltimore youth movement isn't anything special yet. Ryan already dominated Kansas City in his first start against them this season, so look for him to have another strong week.

Mitch Keller, Pirates (@LAD, @ARI)

Keller has been sharp this season. He's currently 9-3 with a 3.34 ERA, but if you look deeper at the stats, it raises some concern for his upcoming two-start week. The righty has not been the same pitcher on the road this year. When he is away from Pittsburgh, Keller has a 4.02 ERA and 1.25 WHIP. To make things worse, Keller has a 5.27 ERA in his career against the Dodgers. Both teams in the NL West have been strong this season, and they should pose as a massive threat to Keller. Stay away.
