2023 Fantasy Baseball Pitching Planner (8/7 - 8/13)

The trade deadline has come and gone...and so has the first week of August. The Mets blew it all up, trading their aces Max Scherzer and Justin Verlander. Meanwhile, other teams stashed starters for a playoff push! It was an exciting week, and now it has major implications for the rest of the Fantasy Baseball season.

The 2023 Fantasy Baseball Pitching Planner (8/7 - 8/13) includes a table listing all the two-start pitchers and their grades for each matchup, based on opposing team wRC+ splits. Two-Start Pitchers

Gerrit Cole, NYY (@CHW, @MIA)
Spencer Strider, Braves (@PIT, @NYM)

Two aces with two two-start weeks. It's a lot of "two's." Fantasy owners can rejoice. Enjoy the week for your bulldozers.

Brayan Bello, Red Sox (KC, DET)

He might be my favorite two-start pitcher of the week. First off, the youngin' has had an extremely solid season for the Red Sox. He is now 8-6 with a 3.59 ERA and 1.24 WHIP. But his matchups this week are what makes him so alluring. Both Kansas City and Detroit are ranked in the bottom five in wRC+. Simply put, they just aren't good offensive teams. Furthermore, Bello is a full ERA point better when he pitches at Fenway Park. The kid should take advantage this week and have two exceptional starts.

Kodai Senga, Mets (CHC, ATL)

The Mets blew it all up, but they didn't get rid of their rookie starter Kodai Senga. Well, this week Senga might wish that he was gone. The righty has been inconsistent all season and now faces two top-10 offenses. First up, Senga has the Cubs, a team in which he walked five batters and gave up six hits in his only start facing them this season. Then Senga goes on to face the best offense in baseball against the Braves. He's simply too inconsistent to start confidently this week.

Freddy Peralta, Brewers (COL, @CHW)

Absolutely love Freddy this week. He has three quality starts in his last four games to go with a 3.52 ERA and 1.04 WHIP in that same timeframe. Plus, this week get he's two starts against underwhelming offenses. The Rockies are currently 43-66 sporting a subpar .314 OBP on the season. Peralta should feast against them at home. Then, the right heads to Chicago to face the White Sox and their 85 wRC+. It's two fantastic matchups for the Brewers starter. Make sure he's in your lineup and enjoy the week.

Mitch Keller, Pirates (ATL, CIN)

What a tale of two halves it's been for Mitch Keller. Before the All-Star break, the righty looked like an ace. He was 9-4 with a 3.31 ERA and was dominant at home. But it has all fallen off the tracks in the second half of the year. Since the All-Star break, Keller is 0-4 with. a 9.97(!) ERA. This week he goes on to face two potent offenses in the Braves and Reds. Count me out.
