2023 Fantasy Baseball Week 22 Stock Up-Stock Down

Welcome to the 2023 Fantasy Baseball Week 22 Stock Up-Stock Down article!

The last few weeks before the playoffs is stressful. Regardless of whether you are on the bubble or firmly secured in the playoffs, there is a certain amount of helplessness that creeps in this time of year.  You likely have most of your roster just how you like it, and every day a nagging injury can pop up and ruin your carefully assembled juggernaut. Nobody is safe.

That's why it's all the more important to stay up to date on who's hot and who's not.  Like last week, we won't really be focusing much on the whys of these performances, as sustainability is less and less important with each passing week.

Now, without further ado, let's bungee jump into the 2023 Fantasy Baseball Week 22 Stock Up/Stock Down list!

Stock Up

Adam Duvall, OF, Boston Red Sox

Adam Duvall is doing that thing he does where he hits a home run every day.  This happens a few times every year, but that doesn't make this run any less impressive.

Duvall is 15-24 over the last week, with 7 home runs and four doubles. There are not a lot of forces of nature more powerful than a Duvall heater. Get it while it's hot.

Marcell Ozuna, OF, Atlanta Braves

Marcell Ozuna has appeared in this article four times now. A few weeks ago I said he looked like he was on the downswing again, and it seems he heard me.

Over the past two weeks, Ozuna is 22-46, with seven home runs and four doubles. The man is en fuego yet again, and you should ride any part of the Braves lineup you can get your hands on.

Royce Lewis, 3B/SS, Minnesota Twins

Like many years in Royce Lewis' professional career, 2023 has been marred by injury. That hasn't stopped the long-anticipated shortstop from maximizing the time on the field he does get.  Through 153 At Bats this season, Lewis is hitting .317/.366./.521 with a 145 WRC+.

Since coming back from injury two weeks ago, Lewis hasn't missed a beat. He is hitting .294 with 5 home runs, and it looks like the only person who can stop Royce Lewis is Royce Lewis. If you need help at a corner down the stretch, Lewis is a great high-floor addition.

Stock Down

Dylan Cease, SP, Chicago White Sox

Dylan Cease has been up and down all year, and August has been the same old story: He walks too many batters to be consistent.

So far in August, Cease has an 8.61 ERA, 2.13 WHIP, and 19 walks to 26 strikeouts.  It is almost impossible for a pitcher to have success while allowing baserunners at the rate Cease does.

While his upside makes him a very tough bench, especially in meaningful matchups, that may be the correct move until we see something positive from the 27-year-old.

Cristian Javier, SP, Houston Astros

After a very strong first half, Cristian Javier has fallen off a cliff of sorts.  After posting a 2.90 ERA in his first 14 starts, Javier has posted a 7.46 ERA over his last eleven starts.  He has a 43:32 strikeout-to-walk ratio during that time, and his season ERA has jumped to 4.66.

Javier has a lot of talent and great stuff, but like Cease, he simply cannot be trusted when the chips are down.  Pitching is quite blobby this year, and the upside is still there, so you can be forgiven for sticking with him, but don't be shocked when Javier inevitably blows up in your face again.
