2023 Fantasy Baseball Week 4 Drop List

Welcome to the 2023 Fantasy Baseball Week 23 Stock Up-Stock Down article!

September is here! Most of your league has probably transitioned to football, but if you're still here, you're probably in your league's playoffs.

If that's the situation you find yourself in, hopefully, your roster is firing on all cylinders and needs little help. However, if there are any last-minute leaks to plug, we'll find your fantasy Flex Seal below.

Like last week, we won't really be focusing much on the whys of these performances, as sustainability is less and less important with each passing week.

Now, without further ado, let's bungee jump into the 2023 Fantasy Baseball Week 22 Stock Up/Stock Down list!

Stock Up

Jordan Walker, 3B/OF, St. Louis Cardinals

It's been an up-and-down season for the Cardinals' top rookie Jordan Walker, but recently it's been all ups.

Walker is on a seven-game hit streak recently, going 15/24 with four home runs in that span.  Walker is putting together a nice rookie season as is slashing .274/.341/.453 with 14 homers, 42 RBI, 37 runs scored, and six stolen bases through 93 games this season.

Mitch Garver, C, Texas Rangers

Mitch Garver has been injured for the majority of the season, but he has been good when he has played and is currently playing very well.

On the year, Garver is slashing .286/.378/.553 with 16 home runs and a 153 WRC+.  Since the beginning of August, Garver has been on a bit of a surge, posting a .313 average, 10 homers, 20 RBI, and 16 runs scored in 95 at-bats. In the past week, Garver is 7-18 with four home runs.

Ian Happ, OF, Chicago Cubs

Ian Happ has come along as a stalwart for the Cubs offense in the past few years, and this year is no different. He is hitting .247/.364/.427 with 17 home runs and 13 steals.

In the past week, Happ is 9 for 25 with five extra-base hits and two steals.  Happ is ending his season on a high note, and if you can get a piece of it, you should.

Stock Down

Trevor Story, 2B/SS, Boston Red Sox

The Boston Red Sox were hoping Trevor Story would be a late injection of offense, and that hasn't totally worked out.  Sure, the Red Sox have found a little bit of offensive life, but Story hasn't been a part of it.

Since returning just under a month ago, Story has been unable to find his groove. Through 22 games, he is producing just a .507 OPS. If you were hanging onto Story in the hopes that he would be a shot in your team's arm, it is time to go ahead and chop that arm off.

Nolan Arenado, 3B, St. Louis Cardinals

After an uncharacteristically slow start, Nolan Arenado was back to his All-Star ways for most of the season. Through May, June, and July, his lowest WRC+ was 139.  In August, however, Arenado started having a nagging back injury that has made him much more mortal.

In August, he posted a WRC+ of just 91, and over the last 2 weeks, Arenado is just 5-37 with only one extra-base hit. While it feels crazy to bench what has likely been a cornerstone for your team, it is definitely worth sitting Arenado until he feels like himself again.
