Welcome to the 2023 Fantasy Baseball Week 24 Drop List!
This week's article focuses on one former all-star starting pitcher who placed in the top 5 in Cy Young voting in 2018 and one top-ten AL MVP vote-getter in 2018 and 2019.
Though both of these players' times seem to have come and gone, they both were drafted in the top 150, with one of these players going in the top 25!
Let's jump into our penultimate 2023 Fantasy Baseball drop list and see who we are dropping this week.

Aaron Nola, SP, Philadelphia Phillies
Could we say Nola was a 2023 bust? I certainly think so. Nola was drafted at an average ADP of 25 overall and as SP5. His 2023 season was nowhere near the production we expect from top-five picks at any position.
To be honest, this year was flat-out bad for the top-five SP pick.
Through 30 starts for the Philadelphia Phillies, Nola has gone 12-9 with a 4.62 ERA and a 1.17 WHIP. His SO/9 is sitting at 9.2, his lowest mark since his rookie season in 2015 (7.9).
Remember, just last year, Nola finished with the fourth most Cy Young votes in the NL. Regression doesn't even begin to explain what happened here.
Month after month, Nola has struggled throughout this season. His best month was just this past August where he went 3-1 with a 3.68 ERA and a 1.12 WHIP. The fact that this was his best month of 2023 is nothing but concerning.
I'm sure owners throughout the Fantasy world have held on to Nola since April, hoping he would turn things around, but it looks like that ship has sailed.
His next start comes on September 20th against the Braves in Atlanta. The Braves have not only scored the most runs at home in the MLB, but they also have the highest home OPS and the highest OPS vs. right-handed pitching.
Trust me, you want nothing to do with Nola for the rest of 2023.
Matt Chapman, 3B, Toronto Blue Jays
Luckily, I'm sure Chapman hasn't hurt people as badly as Aaron Nola has in 2023, but he was still drafted at an overall ADP of 132 and as 3B10.
Unfortunately, I can't say that Chapman lived up to his ADP in 2023.
Chapman started 2023 red hot. Through April and March, he started 27 games for the Blue Jays, hit five homers, recorded 21 RBIs, and batted .384. He slashed .384/.465/.687. Sheesh!
However, that was about it for Chapman owners until July when he seemed to heat up a little bit.
Chapman started 24 games in July and slashed .247/.402/.506. He hit four homers and recorded eight RBIs. While not as impressive as April/March, he didn't hurt you too badly.
Since the beginning of August, Chapman slashed .197/.256/.276 before landing on the injured list with a sprained finger on August 28th.
He returned to the Blue Jays lineup on September 14th and only has two hits since then, both of them coming today (Sept. 17th).
Chapman will finish the season with six games against the Yankees and six against the Rays.
Unfortunately, I don't think his early-season magic will resurface here as the season winds down.
Let Chapman go.
