2023 Fantasy Football Week 17 Vampire League Starters

Welcome to the 2023 Fantasy Football Week 17 Vampire League Starters article!

It's finally championship week, and we are just one matchup away from winning the sweetest championship for any player: a Vampire League championship.

Well, the Fantasy Gods aren't blessing vampires with prime matchups across all positions. Week 17 will be a tough week, and we will have to trust the players we received from victories. The vampire options available have tough matchups, or the players who have great matchups but haven't been playing consistently. So, the choices are tough if you want to be victorious in championship week.

Congratulations to every Vampire who made it to the championship (myself included). It's an incredible achievement, and you should be proud of yourself, but it's time to get serious to bring home the gold.

Kyler Murray, Arizona Cardinals

Kyler Murray is showing some real rust since returning from his injury. He is averaging 217.5 passing yards, 5.7 carries, 31.2 rushing yards, and one passing touchdown. Not the numbers we are used to from the former overall one-number pick, but his matchup against the Eagles is so good that vampires can ignore Murray's inconsistency.

The Eagles allow 20.5 fantasy points, 267.2 yards, and 2.1 touchdowns per game to quarterbacks this season.

*Another quarterback I like in Week 17 is Brock Purdy against the Commanders, but watch Purdy's health status.

Running Backs

Zamir White, Las Vegas Raiders

Zamir White has been great for vampires since becoming the main guy for the Raiders with Josh Jacobs out. White averaged 19.5 attempts, 107 yards, and 0.5 touchdowns in his two starts. The Raiders have a fantastic matchup against the Colts in Week 17.

The Colts allow the third-most fantasy points to running backs. They allow 26.8 fantasy points, 108.1 yards, and one touchdown per game this season.

If Josh Jacobs is out again in Week 17, Zamir White will be a great starting option for vampires.

Jerome Ford, Cleveland Browns

Jerome Ford has been a great running back for Vampires this season. He has given us solid production week after week. He is averaging 12.6 attempts, 49.5 rushing yards, and 0.3 touchdowns this season. That's a solid enough stat line to take into Week 17 against Ford's terrific matchup against the Jets.

The Jets allow 24.4 fantasy points, 101.3 yards, and 0.7 touchdowns per game to running backs this season. Remember, the Browns defense is going to destroy the Jets’ offense (you’ll read about that later)  which is going to give Ford more opportunities to have a great performance in Week 17.

Wide Receivers

Nico Collins, Houston Texans

Speaking of players who have carried vampires to this point, let's shout out to all three Texans' wideouts: Nico Collins, Tank Dell, and Noah Brown. Each of them is responsible for most of my victories, which I assume also happened to other vampires.

Collins' workload has been fantastic for Vampires this season, averaging 7.1 targets, 78.6 yards, and 0.5 touchdowns. Even though he has been battling injuries recently, he has still been able to put up consistent numbers. He averaged 5.6 receptions, 78.2 yards, and 0.6 touchdowns in his last five games. Now Collins has a fantastic matchup against the Titans in Week 17.

The Titans allow the fifth-most fantasy points to wide receivers this season, allowing 38.2 fantasy points, 177.1 yards, and 0.5 touchdowns per game. Hopefully, C.J. Stroud will be back in Week 17 to help boost Collins' numbers, but either way, he'll be a great starting option.

Puka Nacua, Los Angeles Rams

Nacua helped vampires get to championship week with his fantastic performance in Week 16 with nine receptions for 164 yards and a touchdown. We have talked about how great Nacua has been all season; he currently has 1,327 receiving yards, and his current season pace is 1,504. So, he is projected to have 88.5 yards in his last two games; crazy, right? He has a fantastic matchup against the struggling Giants, so Nacua should be able to outproduce his Week 17 projections.

The Giants allow 38.1 fantasy points, 167.2 yards, and 0.9 touchdowns per game to wide receivers this season.

Tight End

Jake Ferguson, Dallas Cowboys

Tight end has always been the wildcard for vampires this season, but this week, vampires finally have a solid tight end with a fantastic matchup in Jake Ferguson. This season, Ferguson is averaging 4.1 receptions, 43.9 yards, and 0.3 touchdowns, which is some solid production, but he has taken it to another level recently. He averaged eight targets, 5.3 receptions, 59.5 yards, and 0.3 touchdowns in his previous four games.

Ferguson has a great matchup against the Lions, who have struggled to defend tight ends all season. The Lions allow 13.1 fantasy points, 52.7 yards, and 0.4 touchdowns per game to tight ends this season. The Lions' struggles have taken an uptick recently, allowing 15.7 fantasy points, 67.7 yards, and 0.2 touchdowns to tight ends in their previous four games.

Adam Thielen, Carolina Panthers

Thielen has been hit-or-miss over the past few weeks but has averaged eight targets, 5.3 receptions, and 59 receiving yards in his previous four games. He has not been in the endzone since Week 6, but his Week 17 matchup against the Jaguars will be the perfect matchup to break that streak.

The Jaguars allow 36.8 fantasy points, 167.2 yards, and 1.1 touchdowns per game to wide receivers this season. The Panthers' offense was able to post 30 points on the Packers last week, who are a much better defense than the Jaguars. If the Panthers can carry that momentum in Week 17 and give Thielen the chance to have an explosive week.

Defense/Special Teams

Cleveland Browns

After the Browns' defense had a tough outing against the Rams in Week 13, the Browns quickly righted the ship and are averaging 11.3 fantasy points since Week 13. In Week 17, the Browns are blessed with a gift from the Fantasy Gods with their matchup against the Jets.

The Jets' offense allows the most fantasy points (12.4) to defenses this season. They turnover the ball so much that they are averaging a fumble and interception. The Browns should be a must-start for every fantasy football player, not just vampires, in Week 17.

Thanks to all of you vampires spending another season with me, and I hope you guys win your championship matchup.
