2023 Fantasy Football Week 8 QB/TE Streamers

2023 Fantasy Football QB/TE Streamers

Thank goodness we're past the Week 7 bye weeks. That means I've got a lot more to choose from for our 2023 Fantasy Football Week 8 QB/TE Streamers!

Sam Howell was not the QB I expected him to be against the Giants. And naturally, I decided to endorse Desmond Ridder for once and while he didn’t throw a pick, it was a rushing touchdown that saved him from an abysmal fantasy day. Our tight ends didn’t fare much better either, with Musgrave garnering seven fantasy points. Jonuu Smith went down with the Ridder ship. Not what I wanted to give you guys.

But it’s a new week, a new day, and it’s time to get things right. We have no byes this week, for some reason, so our options for streamers open up a little more. Let's get to it!

Quarterbacks

Sam Howell vs. PHI - 39% Rostered

For the third week in a row, Sam Howell found his way into this column.

After a bad performance against the suddenly good Giants defense, Howell’s roster percentage dropped from nearly out of streaming conversation to back in the thick of it. He gets Philadelphia this week who allow the ninth most points to quarterbacks in the NFL.

Howell put up 20 points against them back in week 4 and he will likely need to throw again for Washington to keep up.

Derek Carr vs. IND - 26% Rostered

I think Carr has a high chance of doing what Ridder did to me last week, which is to fail as soon as I write about him. Because why not?

On the bright side, he’s improved his fantasy score each of the past three weeks and he gets a Colts secondary that is middle of the road against quarterbacks.

Tight Ends

Trey McBride vs. BAL - 10% Rostered

With Zach Ertz on IR, it's the young talent's time to shine. Up until the last two weeks, McBride had been used sparingly by Arizona. Then during weeks 6 and 7, he saw eleven targets and caught seven of them for 91 yards. With Ertz out, McBride should step up into the TE1 role of the offense. If he can garner most, if not all, of Ertz's average of 6 targets per game, we're in business.

What stinks here is the fact that Baltimore has been good against tight ends. The good news is quarterback Joshua Dobbs has one of the lowest air yards per attempt this season. Translation? He throws it short pretty often. That's where McBride will be used. He's worth a stream here with the Cardinals likely throwing to keep up.

Gerald Everett vs. CHI - 26% Rostered

Everett started off slow but has started to pick up some steam. What's helped is that he has found the endzone in each of the past two weeks. The Chargers are heavily favored in this game and the Bears have allowed the second most receptions to tight ends this season.

Everett might not be a ceiling play, but in a good offense on a team that is heavily favored in a good matchup, why not take the shot? One caution though, he has been limited in practice this week but it sounds like he will go. If he doesn't, mentally copy and paste Donald Parham's name into this section right here.
