Best Defensive Line Matchups

Packers DL vs. Giants OL

The Giants offensive line has the worst PFF pass-blocking rating. It is giving up 5.8 sacks per game this season and an astonishing 6.7 in the past three games. If it keeps allowing sacks at the rate it has in the past three games, it will surpass the 1986 Eagles' record of 104 sacks allowed in a season.

It is important to note that Tyrod Taylor (expected back) takes sacks at a less egregious rate than Tommy DeVito did. Taylor was sacked seven times in his two starts in which he attempted over 20 passes, while DeVito was sacked five or more times in each of his starts. That said, Taylor's sack rate of 10% this season is still about twice as high as an average quarterback's.

DE Rashan Gary has made half a sack or more in each of the past three games. He ranks No. 14 in total sack plays. While this matchup is the third best matchup of the week in my complete DL matchup rankings, Gary himself is the number one individual start.

Must-Start: DE Rashan Gary

Quality Starts: DT Kenny Clark, DE Preston Smith

Texans DL vs. Jets OL

The Jets have allowed 140 pressures, the second-most of any team, and 51 sacks, the third-most. Their line has been banged up. Wes Schweitzer has been ruled out, and Connor McGovern is still on the IR. Mekhi Becton and Duane Brown did return from injuries last week, but the Jets still allowed four sacks to the Falcons.

DE Jonathan Greenard has been an under-the-radar IDP producer. He has been involved in nine sacks this season. Rookie DE Will Anderson leads the team in pressures with 47.

Quality Starts: DE Jonathan Greenard, DE Will Anderson

Quality Streamer: DT Maliek Collins

Saints DL vs. Panthers OL

There are many reasons why Bryce Young hasn't succeeded. He hasn't played well. But he also has to work behind a terrible offensive line. The Panthers line is the worst in the league in PFF's Week 14 offensive line rankings. They've allowed 47 sacks, the fourth-most, and Bryce Young has been pressured 116 times, the eighth-most.

Quality Start: DE Carl Granderson

Quality Streamer: DE Cameron Jordan

Best Linebacker Matchups

Jaguars LBs vs. Browns

The Browns are giving up the sixth-most points to IDP linebackers in the IDP Invitational Scoring system. They lead the league with 32.5 rushing attempts per game. Linebackers who excel at stopping the run, like the Jags' Foye Oluokun, rack up tackles. Last week, the Rams' Ernest Jones made 15 combined tackles against the Browns, and Oluokun should have a big game, too. Devin Lloyd has had a breakout season of sorts; he ranks in the top 20 for solo tackles.

Must-Start: LB Foye Oluokun

Quality Streamer: Devin Lloyd

Rams LBs vs. Ravens

The Ravens are tied with the Browns for most rushing attempts per game. So Ernest Jones has another great matchup. Jones had big games against other run-heavy teams like the 49ers (10 tackles in Week 2) and the Eagles (15 tackles in Week 5).

Must-Start: LB Ernest Jones

Raiders LBs vs. Vikings

The Vikings have targeted tight end T.J. Hockenson 108 times this season, more than any other tight end, and if you include No. 2 TE Josh Oliver, the Vikings have targeted their tight ends more than all but one other team. (The other team, the Cardinals, are on bye.) It's no wonder, then, that the Vikings have allowed the fifth-most points to opposing linebackers who must make plays on the ball and tackles when passes over the middle are completed.

Near Must-Start: LB Robert Spillane

Quality Start: LB Divine Diabolo

Best Defensive Back Matchups

Chiefs DBs vs. Bills

The Bills are allowing the fifth-most fantasy points to opposing cornerbacks this season. They face the Chiefs, another pass-heavy offense, in what is expected to be a high-scoring affair. The over/under pick is at 48.5. The Bills offense has been firing on all cylinders in the past two games since they fired offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey. Chiefs cornerbacks and safeties will have to defend a lot of passes.

Quality Starts: S Justine Reid, CB L'Jarius Sneed, CB Trent McDuffie

Quality Streamer: S Bryan Cook

Eagles DBs vs. Cowboys

The Cowboys are completing 25.3 passes per game, the fifth-most, which means that opposing defensive backs must make a lot of tackles. They can stretch the field with CeeDee Lamb and KaVontae Turpin. The over/under projection is 52, so it is going to be another pass-heavy game for the Cowboys.

Quality Starts: S Kevin Byard, S Reed Blankenship

Quality Streamer: CB Darius Slay

Deep League Streamer: CB James Bradberry

Saints DBs vs. Panthers

Bryce Young has thrown five interceptions in the past five games and nine interceptions on the season. He didn't throw an interception the last time these two teams played each other in Week 2, but Marshon Lattimore and Alontae Taylor both got their hands on passes. The Panthers are allowing the fifth-most points to opposing safeties.

Quality Start: CB Marshon Lattimore

Quality Streamers: CB Alontae Taylor, S Tyrann Mathieu
