Linebackers to Start

Kenneth Murray, Los Angeles Chargers

Murray has appeared in 97.56% of defensive snap counts so far this season and has worn the green dot in a couple of games to boot. The fourth-year veteran—whose fifth-year option was turned down—has really looked like he belongs when on the field. This week against the Cowboys, fresh off the bye, Murray will be looking to pick up where he left off, even with Eric Kendricks reporting for duty. Murray is an easy start in the flex.

Azeez Al-Shaair, Tennessee Titans

Al-Shaair has sneakily become an alpha on the Titans' defense this season. Having already beaten his entire 2022 production through the first five weeks of the 2023 season, Al-Shaair can't be ignored.

He had himself a day last week against the Indianapolis Colts, racking up a total of 15 tackles. Up against the Ravens this week who conceded a lot of tackles to linebackers in Week 5 in their loss to the Steelers, it should prove to be a solid matchup for Al-Shaair.

Linebackers to Sit

Josh Uche, New England Patriots

The Patriots were looking for Uche to step up in Week 5 against the Saints, but it turned into a horror show for both sides of the ball. With only one tackle out of 36 snaps, Uche was underwhelming.

Uche is arguably sack-dependent to be a worthy start in fantasy. Facing the Las Vegas Raiders and Jimmy Garoppolo who is known for his quick releases, it is unlikely going to be a good day for Uche in Week 6.

Michael Hoecht, Los Angeles Rams

Hoecht has had a fairly average season so far but has been in the shadow of Ernest Jones and Christian Rozeboom, with Rozeboom able to accumulate a similar level of production with half the playing time. With the Cardinals losing their key piece in the running game, it could prove to be a difficult game for the Rams linebackers working in coverage.

Defensive Linemen to Start

Carl Granderson, New Orleans Saints

The Saints were on fire in Week 5 against the Patriots, and they will be looking to make mincemeat out of rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud in Week 6 against the Houston Texans. Granderson had a nice week individually in Week 5 tallying up four tackles and a sack.

While the Texans' offensive line is trying to contend with Demario Davis, Peter Werner, and Cam Jordan, Granderson figures to be the man that they forget about, which hopefully leads to a hatful of fantasy production.

Emmanuel Ogbah, Miami Dolphins

Emmanuel Ogbah was written out of a starting role in Miami at the beginning of this season but is coming up with solid production with limited time on the field. Only appearing in 29.11% of defensive snaps so far, the only way is up for Ogbah in terms of opportunities, and this week against the Carolina Panthers is the perfect opportunity to collate more points for your fantasy teams.

Defensive Linemen to Sit

Dre'Mont Jones, Seattle Seahawks

Coming off a bye week in Week 5 Jones will be well-rested, but that won't have much impact on his fantasy production in Week 6 against the Bengals. Cincinnati defended extremely well against the Cardinals' defensive line in Week 5 and the Titans' defensive line in Week 4, and much of the same should be expected this week. Leave Jones out of your starting lineups this week.

Grady Jarrett, Atlanta Falcons

Jarrett has had a relatively steady season so far and has been a fairly big influence on the Atlanta defense, but this doesn't always equate to fantasy production unfortunately. The Chicago Bears' interior defensive line had almost no joy in fantasy terms against the Commanders in Week 5, and it's likely to be a repeat this week as the Falcons face off against Washington.

Defensive Backs to Start

Tre'Von Moehrig, Las Vegas Raiders

Moehrig and the Raiders are up against the New England Patriots who are in turmoil going into Week 6. The Saints' defense took care of business in Week 5 against the Patriots, and the same is likely to occur in Week 6.

Moehrig has made a name for himself as a playmaker over the course of the last two weeks with a sack and an interception in addition to eleven tackles, and that's why he should be working his way into starting lineups this week.

Kamren Curl, Washington Commanders

Curl should be an easy insertion into your fantasy team lineups this week. With the news that Darrick Forrest is IR-bound with a shoulder injury, this leaves more responsibility on the shoulders of Curl to come up with the plays for the Commanders. With 44 tackles and a sack to his name already this season, Curl should have a very nice week against the Atlanta Falcons who gave up 13 tackles to Jalen Pitre and six tackles to Jimmie Ward at the safety position.

Defensive Backs to Sit

DeShon Elliott, Miami Dolphins

Elliott had a fairly standard performance against the New York Giants in Week 5, but in Week 6 the Dolphins are playing against the Carolina Panthers and Bryce Young who hasn't thrown the ball for more than a 30-yard gain. In Week 5 against the Lions, the Panthers seemed to shore up protection against defensive backs after a couple of heavy losses and as a result, the sixth-year veteran Elliott won't have much joy this week, even with a clean bill of health.

Deommodore Lenoir, San Francisco 49ers

Lenoir had a great start to the season racking up 20 tackles and an interception in his first two games. Since then, Lenoir's form has suffered, and against three teams who have haphazard offenses in the New York Giants, the Arizona Cardinals, and the Dallas Cowboys, Lenoir flattered to deceive. At the very best he could be a flex option, but if you have options, sit Lenoir this week against a Cleveland Browns team that is going to be run-heavy.
