2023 NFL DFS Week 15 Saturday Slate Breakdown

Instead of my normal second DFS article covering my favorite DFS Stacks for that week. This week I wanted to break down the three games on Saturday and give you my favorite DFS plays from each game with my 2023 NFL DFS Week 15 Saturday Slate article.

The NFL gifted us in the first weekend without meaningful college football games with a three game slate of NFL games. All teams playing Saturday are currently 7-6 or better and each game features serious playoff implications.

In DFS with a small slate I highly recommend doing single entries/cash game lineups only. With six teams to choose from there are enough players available to gain a significant advantage in single entry contests but not enough players to presumably do well in multi entry events without entering the max amount of entries allowed.

You can find me on Twitter @KeithFlemming where I love talking DFS with my followers. I also appear on the Inside Drive on ESPN NW Florida Radio every Wednesday at 12pm Central talking DFS football. Finally, you can find me on the Fantasy Six Pack YouTube Channel every Thursday night with Joe Matz, where we do a live NFL DFS show leading up to the TNF game, talking our favorite median and bargain tier plays for the upcoming week of NFL action!

Minnesota Vikings @ Cincinnati Bengals

There is a theme with the teams in the Saturday slate of games where their organizations and fan bases might wonder what could have been? The Vikings and Bengals both lost their franchise QBs during the 2023 season to injuries. Both teams have done a commendable job keeping themselves alive in the NFC and AFC playoff pictures.

The Bengals enter this game with consecutive wins against other teams in the playoff hunt in the AFC in the Jaguars and Colts. Jake Browning has the Bengals offense roaring again as the team has scored 34 points in consecutive weeks. Joe Mixon and the Bengals defense are playing as well as they have all season and that's a big reason for the Bengals success their last two games.

The Vikings are on the other end of the spectrum dropping two of their last three games. Last week the Vikings won a game in Las Vegas where they scored three points. Nick Mullins will takeover as QB1 this week as the Vikings hope to get their offense back on track. Justin Jefferson is questionable for this game and whether the Vikings star WR plays or not will impact my DFS plays from this game significantly.

I am staying away from most of the offensive players in this game. Its entirely too risky to play Jefferson or Hockenson in my opinion at their DFS prices this week with the uncertainty at QB. Speaking of Quarterbacks I would much rather use QBs from the other two games than the two we have to choose from in this one.

Favorite DFS Plays from this game

  • JaMarr Chase ($7.6k DK/$8.0k FD): The fact Chase is under 8k on DK combined with the fact he's been targeted 22 times in the three full Browning starts is why he's included in this list.
  • Ty Chandler ($5.3k DK/$6.0k): The Vikings will be without both Akers and Mattison leaving Chandler to handle most of the running back snaps. Particularly like this play on DK with Chandler having 3+ receptions in two of his last three games.
  • Tanner Hudson ($3.2k DK/$5.0k FD): Hudson is seeing decent volume with Browning at QB. He's seen 12 targets in Browning's three starts and caught four or more passing in five of his last six games.
  • Bengals D ($3.6k DK/$4.7k FD): The Bengals defense has allowed 15 points or less in two of their last three and they are facing Nick Mullins.
  • Vikings D ($2.8k DK/$3.8k FD): Minnesota's defense has only allowed 53 points total over their last four games. They have 12 sacks and 7 forced turnovers in that stretch.

Pittsburgh Steelers @ Indianapolis Colts

The second game of the Saturday slate like the first will feature two backup quarterbacks facing one another. Mitch Tribisky will make the start for injured Kenny Pickett and on the other side the Colts ruled out Jonathan Taylor. This means we have another week with Zack Moss seeing a huge snap share for the Colts at running back.

You could make a case in this game for any of the three main running backs being in your DFS lineups for Saturday. The Colts are one of the most fantasy friendly defenses in the league to running backs. It's very difficult to determine whether to play Warren or Harris and for that reason I will ultimately stay away from both.

This game is being played indoors which should help the QBs and WRs in this game. I am staying away from both QBs in this game and will fill out that position in my DFS lineups for Saturday with one of the two QBs in the night game. That doesn't mean there isn't value at the WR position in this game for DFS. I like both of the Colts top passing options and Diontae Johnson is trending in the right direction heading into this matchup.

Favorite DFS Plays from this game

  • Zack Moss ($6.2k DK/$6.7k FD): I've been burned in consecutive weeks playing Zack Moss in DFS. Despite him hurting my wallet it's hard to not include him when you consider his volume and snap shares when Jonathan Taylor doesn't play.
  • Jaylen Warren ($5.2k DK/$5.6k FD): You could easily talk me into considering Harris over Warren in this game, but the difference was Warren's price tag being cheaper on both DFS sites. The Steelers are 19th on FD and 30th on DraftKings versus opposing running backs.
  • Diontae Johnson ($5.2k DK/$6.7k FD): I like this play more on DraftKings but Johnson has scored in two straight making him viable for FanDuel as well. He saw seven targets last week with Tribisky at QB and he's eclipsed either 50 yards receiving or scored a touchdown in three straight.
  • Josh Downs ($4.6k DK/$5.5k FD): The Steelers have a hard time defending WRs who line up in the slot. Josh Downs has the most snaps from the slot in the NFL. Jayden Reed and JuJu Smith-Schuster both had over 80 yards and four receptions in recent weeks versus this Steelers defense from the slot.
  • Colts D ($3.5k DK/$4.4k FD): The Colts defense was playing out of its minds until last week versus the Bengals. Despite giving up 34 points they scored seven points on both DFS sites. They have 21 sacks over their last five games and have scored a defensive touchdown in consecutive weeks.

Denver Broncos @ Detroit Lions

This is the game of the three Saturday that I will spend a majority of my salary for in this slate of games. There are numerous players in this game with great matchups in a game taking place indoors. The Lions as a whole have been much better offensively in home games this season.

I feel safe starting Jared Goff if you choose to do so and would not hesitate stacking him with either ASB or Laporta. The Broncos struggle stopping the run making both Montgomery and Gibbs good potential plays as well. What I love the most about this game is how bad the Lions defense has been as of late.

The Lions struggles stopping their opponent on offense makes it more than likely this game will have the most total points scored of the three game slate Saturday. It's a great matchup for Russell Wilson and his receiving weapons. I will have an official DraftKings lineup for this slate at the bottom of this article. You will notice it is littered with players from this game.

Favorite DFS Plays from this game

  • Jared Goff ($6.5k DK/$7.9k FD): Goff is much better indoors at home with twelve of his twenty-one touchdowns coming in his six home games. He has four games with 20+ fantasy points this season with three of four coming in home games.
  • Russell Wilson ($6.0k DK/$7.8k FD): If you have watched this Lions defense defend the pass the last few weeks you understand why this is a great matchup for Wilson. What I like the most about Wilson is how much he is running the ball with 30 yards or more on the ground in four of his last six and two rushing touchdowns in that span.
  • David Montgomery (6.4k DK/$7.6k FD): The Broncos are one of the worst run defenses in the NFL. I like Montgomery more than Gibbs due to his price and the fact he still sees a majority of the carries inside the five yard line.
  • Courtland Sutton ($6.4k DK/$7.3k FD): Sutton is a must start this week for me with the Lions recent struggles defending the pass and the fact he's caught a touchdown pass in seven of his last eight games.
  • Sam Laporta ($6.0 k DK/$6.8k FD): Laporta is another smash play for me this week. The Broncos are 19th vs TEs on FanDuel and 31st on DraftKings. Laporta has scored 17 points or more in four of the last five Lions home games.
