The NFL's opening weekend never disappoints for Fantasy and Daily Fantasy players. That brings me to my 2023 NFL DFS Week 2 Value Picks.
I spoke in last week's article about how I believe the first few weeks of the season are the hardest to predict from a DFS and gambling standpoint. My picks last week can best be described as the good, the meh, and the ugly.
The best play from last week's article was Hayden Hurst versus Atlanta. Hurst was a top-10 tight end in Week 1 catching five passes and a touchdown. My worst play was in the exact same game. Maybe I was being punished for being a homer, but Drake London scored a goose egg versus Carolina. A game where he saw only one target!
This week with my plays I am looking for players who will see a high volume for their price in daily fantasy. It is too early for us to know what defenses and offenses are really good or bad. I learned a long time ago to never overreact to the first week of the NFL season.
This time last year Joe Burrow looked bad in the Bengals opener and the team was 0-1, sound familiar? The 49ers lost a home game to the Bears in their opener last year. The point I am trying to make is we are still a few games away from being able to make analytically wise decisions.

Brock Purdy, 49ers @ Rams

Not having Brock Purdy in this article was my biggest whiff last week. He had thrown multiple passing touchdowns in every career regular season start for the 49ers. In those games, Purdy averaged over 18 points per game and scored at least 15.3 points in those starts.
Last week he started with a tough matchup on the road in Pittsburgh and he shredded the Steelers secondary. He scored 17.8 pts on DraftKings in a game they led comfortably for the entire second half. He threw for 220 yards and two more passing touchdowns. Purdy finished the week as QB11 in fantasy with his seventh consecutive regular season game with two or more passing touchdowns.
I am going to play Purdy until DraftKings and FanDuel raise his price or he stops being the most consistent scoring middle to lower-priced Quarterback in daily fantasy. On DraftKings Purdy's price is only $600 more than his first start last season. Purdy might not have the highest upside but a guaranteed 18 points in daily fantasy by a QB in this price range is too much value to pass up.
Another option: Daniel Jones ($6.0k DK, $7.5k FD)
