I want to start this article with an apology for this article being a day later than normal. The reason my article is a day late is a terrible migraine headache I dealt with all of yesterday. With me running a day behind let me get right into my NFL DFS Week 5 Value Picks.
Last week my plays from this article did not live up to the standards I set for myself. Maybe I was being punished by the DFS gods for my subpar value plays last week and that's why I dealt with an awful migraine yesterday? Either way I plan to get back on track in this piece with some great DFS values for this week.
This week I will focus on defenses that have proven over the first four weeks of the season that they allow plenty of fantasy points to certain positions. I particularly want to find players who see significant volume that are facing these bad defenses.
Finally I wanted to remind everyone reading this to follow all of the great DFS contributors at Fantasy Six Pack. My co-host Joe Matz had a great week with his DFS plays last week. At F6P you have four great resources for DFS every week in myself, Joe, @detroitbeastie, and @CorporalEddy. Even if I have an off week like last with my plays there are always winning plays if you follow all four of us week to week. It's why I believe we have the best core of DFS contributors in fantasy football.

2023 NFL DFS Week 5 Value Picks
C.J. Stroud, QB, Texans vs Falcons
($6.0k DK, $7.2k FD)
#Texans C.J. Stroud is a star, and true franchise QB for Houston.
He won Rookie of the Month honors in September, and had another 300+ yard passing game vs the #Rams today:
16 of 30 Passing
322 Total Yards
— Dov Kleiman (@NFL_DovKleiman) October 1, 2023
The way C.J. Stroud has played thru his first four career games behind a banged up offensive line is remarkable. Stroud has 151 pass attempts this season and has still yet to throw an interception. He's thrown multiple passing touchdowns in three straight games and his yards per attempt numbers has risen each week.
Stroud is sixth in fantasy points per game over the last three games. In standard leagues he's eclipsed 20 points in each of those games and eclipsed 300 yards in two of them. The Texans signal caller has thrown it 30 plus times in every game this season. I like knowing this Texans offense is going to throw at minimum 30 times per game.
This week Stroud is a smash play for me in cash games due to his price and the Falcons ability to stop the run. The Falcons have yet to give up a rushing touchdown this season while allowing opposing running backs less than four yards per carry. In games the Texans establish the run Stroud is averaging 30 pass attempts per game. That number balloons to 44.5 average pass attempts in games where they struggle establishing the run.
Another option: Joshua Dobbs ($5.2k DK, $6.6k FD)
