2023 NFL Mock Draft: Super Bowl LVII Update

2023 NFL Mock Draft

We have an updated 2023 NFL Mock Draft Post-Combine Update!

Welcome to the 2023 NFL Mock Draft: Super Bowl LVII Update. The top of the 2023 NFL Draft is shaping up very differently compared to last season. The quarterback class is projected to be much better and we could see three, maybe even four quarterbacks drafted in the first round! Which team believes in Will Levis and which coaching staff wants to mold Anthony Richardson is still yet to be determined.

The Houston Texans are in a great spot as it stands right now.  After bringing DeMeco Ryans home to be their new head coach, along with picks two and 12, they could walk away with a Franchise QB (Bryce Young, C.J. Stroud) of their choosing and his new WR1 (Quentin Johnston, Jordan Addison) to boot.

You could argue that the Detroit Lions need a franchise QB and that Jared Goff is still just a bridge. It will be very interesting to watch how this all plays out. Goff carries a $30 mil cap hit for each of the next two seasons if the Lions do not cut/trade him.

Since our last mock draft, Tom Brady has retired and it appears that Derek Carr's days with the Raiders are over. Another huge veteran quarterback question mark surrounding this NFL offseason will be whether or not Aaron Rodgers plays for the Green Bay Packers again next season.

Keith's Quick Thoughts (@WeTlkFntsySprts)

  • The Lions need to do their homework this offseason to know if Will Levis or Anthony Richardson can be their Franchise QB or if they want to roll with Goff for one more year and target Caleb Williams or Drake Maye.
  • I am not a huge fan of Will Levis but the Panthers need to find a solution to the revolving door at quarterback.
  • The New York Football Giants are in a good position towards the bottom half of the draft when it comes to a position of need - wide receiver. Just about any player that they choose is a HUGE upgrade on their current depth chart.
  • I don't see a perfect fit for Bijan Robinson/Jahmyr Gibbs in the first round as the running back position has seemingly started to lose value in the NFL but the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles are in as good a position as any team in the first round to add them to their already explosive offenses!

Jon's Quick Thoughts (@JPW2542)

  • I highly doubt Chicago keeps the #1, a team will most likely trade up to select one of Stroud or Young
  • Anthony Richardson is a wild card. He is raw, very raw, but he has the arm strength and the physical ability to become a franchise quarterback
  • Despite OL issues, the Bills should target a WR in round one. Zay Flowers can start day one for them and be a dynamic weapon for Josh Allen
  • With their second pick in the first round, I can see new Texans coach DeMeco Ryans drafting a defender that he views as a cornerstone of their defense
