Dynasty Baseball Deep League Targets: Landon Knack & Blake Perkins

Dynasty Baseball Deep League Targets

It's time to dive into some potential must-adds for dynasty players in larger leagues. This is Dynasty Baseball Deep League Targets, including Landon Knack and Blake Perkins

We're only a few weeks into the season, so we're still in that period where fantasy baseball players are panic-dropping some names that will definitely come back to haunt them. Keep an eye out for those mistakes, and be sure you're not the one cutting Cody Bellinger or asking everyone on Twitter what you should do with Julio Rodriguez.

Here I'll discuss five players who are probably available to add in your league today. Two are coming off promising starts, and one could be an OBP-league winner someday.

Landon Knack, SP, Los Angeles Dodgers

The Dodgers can churn out prospects with the best of them. Knack hasn't been one of their most highly touted arms — in large part due to health issues — but he showed promising stuff in his MLB debut.

Knack went 5 IP with 2 H, 2 ER, and 4 K against the Nationals on April 17. The underlying data look even better.

Typically known for his excellent command, Knack might offer more than dynasty managers expected. He's still rostered at 21% in Fantrax leagues, so he's worth picking up if he's still out there in your league.

José Soriano, SP, Los Angeles Angels

Soriano has some incredible stuff. Just take a look at these metrics.

His Statcast page tells you all you need to know. Soriano's breaking run value is among the league's best. But his control remains his biggest challenge. And while he pumps his fastball up near 100 MPH, hitters are making good contact with it.

The potential is there. Soriano has to rein in his walk rate a bit and improve his K%. We know the arsenal is there to become a high-strikeout starter. He is only rostered in 19% of Fantrax leagues.

Caleb Durbin, 2B/SS, New York Yankees

If you're searching for the next Tyler Black, can I interest you in the Yankees' next super-utility king?

Durbin is off to an excellent start at Triple-A this season, slashing .297 with a .425 OBP and 10 steals. And Scranton/Wilkes-Barre is playing him all over the field, including some starts in center field.

He only has one home run to his name through 80 plate appearances, and at 5'6", I'm not sure how much more power will be on the way. But the advanced plate approach, 30+ steal potential, and multi-position eligibility should interest you.

Cade Povich, SP, Baltimore Orioles

We will likely see Povich at Camden Yards at some point this season. Get ahead of that call-up while you can.

Povich looks sharp this season at Triple-A. Through 16.1 IP, he's sporting 1.10 ERA, 2.51 FIP, and a 33.3% K-BB rate.

The Orioles prospect uses a five-pitch arsenal to keep hitters guessing and defending the entire plate. Everything grades around average to above average, so we're not looking at a future ace in Baltimore, but a reliable back-end starter with one of the most promising young lineups in baseball should be added everywhere.

Blake Perkins, OF, Milwaukee Brewers

Perkins is making the most of his playing time in 2024. Through 41 plate appearances, he's hitting .324 with two homers, two steals, and 146 wRC+.

His average EV is up 3 MPH from last season, and his hard-hit rate currently sits at 44.4%. Perkins might be a glove-first outfielder, but his speed and recent power uptick could make him a worthy add in deep leagues going forward.
