Happy New Year! It is never too early for a 2024 NFL Mock Draft! We are now entering NFL Week 17 and we know for sure that the Chicago Bears, thanks to the Carolina Panthers trading up for Bryce Young last year, have really great odds at landing the top pick in the 2024 NFL Draft and the ability to select USC quarterback Caleb Williams.

Questions remain.

Will they pair him up with one of the top wide receivers in this draft class?

Will they even look to trade Justin Fields or will they officially put the pick on the trade block?

Which teams are even willing to pay either asking price?

The Arizona Cardinals, as expected, are looking at a top 5 pick this season. Will the new regime be willing to move on from Kyler Murray this offseason and hand the reigns to North Carolina QB Drake Maye or do they roll with Murray and add Marvin Harrison Jr.?

As it stands, the New England Patriots will likely be looking at selecting their new Franchise signal caller, officially ending Mac Jones' tenure running the Pats offense. However, will they be able to trade back, add some picks and still land Heisman Award winner Jayden Daniels?

It is looking less and less likely that Bill Belichick will still be the head coach in Foxborough next season.

Should one of those Franchises decide to go a different direction with their draft pick, will we see the New York Giants select Daniel Jones' successor?

The top of the draft is filled with tons of talent, but the teams that we expect to be making these picks have a lot of question marks and the order of the draft could shake things up!

Mase's Quick Thoughts

  • The Bears desperately need another playmaker on the outside, and Marvin Harrison Jr. is the top prospect at the position. I believe they draft the WR1 of the class as opposed to taking another QB or trading out of the #1 overall pick.
  • My Current QB1, Drake Maye is the next top pick to get a crack at "Raising Arizona" if the team moves on from Kyler Murray in the off-season.
  • The Sam Howell experiment comes to an end as a new regime starts fresh at QB with the 2023 Heisman winner.
  • Dallas Turner is my DL1 in this draft class. The Pats miss out on the top two QBs but draft an anchor for their defensive line for years to come.
  • The Giants roster needs a lot of help but in case they can't land a decent quarterback, they may as well get someone to protect the one they currently paid for. Joe Alt stands at a towering 6'8" and has only allowed four sacks in his three years at Notre Dame (2,214 defensive collegiate snaps).
  • JC Latham allowed only one sack in his three seasons with Bama. The Titans could use an upgrade at the tackle position.
  • God’s latest gift to the Tight End position falls into Justin Fields' lap, as Chicago fans everywhere shed tears of joy. Brock Bowers suffered a high ankle sprain in mid-November but is still projected to be a top sought-out prospect in the 2024 NFL Draft.
  • Malik Nabers provides help for veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers in hopes of adding another infinity stone to the Jets' skill position player group.
  • Jer'Zhan Newton is listed on PFF/PFN as an interior defensive lineman; however, his willingness to adapt and play anywhere on the line is what teams will fall in love with come draft day.
  • Kool-Aid McKinstry has allowed a "cool" 47.2% reception percentage on 144 targets in his collegiate career (three seasons). He also can play strictly outside or assist in slot coverage as he did in 2022.
  • Terrion Arnold has been the CB2 for Bama, and during the last two seasons, he has seen 100+ targets and allowed only a 54% catch percentage.
  • The first and only LB taken in this mock, Jeremiah Trotter Jr. is an aggressive, pressuring LB who has only allowed one passing touchdown in his collegiate career.
  • Chop Robinson is a pass-rush specialist who has tallied just over 1,000 snaps and 87 pressures in his three collegiate seasons. His lack of experience may leave more to be desired but Robinson could be a great, immediate contributor to the right team.
  • Cooper DeJean had 9 PBU and 7 interceptions on 120+ targets, allowing under a 50% catch percentage during his time at Iowa.
  • Despite being a 6'3" standout wideout, Rome Odunze has shown the ability to rush as well as return kicks at times throughout his collegiate career. The Bengals add more youth at the wideout position, or a potential replacement for Tee Higgins.
  • The Colts need someone on the opposing side of Kwity Paye, and Jared Verse could be the man for the job. Every season he has improved his pass-rush numbers. Verse's 2023 stats: 60 pressures, 11 sacks, and 38 combined tackles.
  • Nate Wiggins is a lengthy corner who can rush the quarterback when asked. Despite missing a few weeks mid-season in 2023, he has 14 PBU in his last two seasons and has allowed less than a 50% catch percentage through college (1,394 defensive snaps).
  • With 15 sacks on 64 pressures in 2023, Laiatu Latu will be one of the draft's top defensive ends come draft weekend. Latu is a smart pass-rusher who shows the ability to cover the flats. He may need more time to develop his pass-rush moves, but he shows bright spots in his film reminiscent of a savvy NFL pedigree.
  • The Bills need a fresh start at the wide receiver position. Perhaps they make a splash in free agency, but I still like to think they add one to the depth chart early in the draft.
  • The Chiefs offense misses having a WR1 like the desert misses the rain. (Yes, that is a Sade reference).
  • The Cowboys have the interior of the offensive line locked up for a few more years so I think they draft a young tackle to help Dak Prescott in pass coverage.
  • C.J. Stroud, meet your new BFF - Adonai Mitchell. If the chemistry takes off early between these two, it could be a dream come true for Texans’ coaches and fans alike for years to come, alongside Nico Collins and Tank Dell.
  • The Lions would give Jared Goff a player who would immediately compete for the WR2 position to pair with Amon-Ra St. Brown. Emeka Egbuka has caught 14 touchdowns in his two seasons as a starter at Ohio St.
  • Safety makes sense for Philly and Kamren Kinchens is the best one of the class.
  • The 49ers could use both a guard or a tackle but they take the best available lineman at the time at that happens to be Troy Futanu who has experience at both guard in 2022 and playing at left tackle in 2023.
