2024 PGA DFS CJ Cup Byron Nelson DraftKings and Betting Preview

The PGA Tour is back in Texas for one of the final tuneups before the season's second major, the PGA Championship. Bringing me to my 2024 PGA DFS CJ Cup Byron Nelson Draftkings and Betting Preview.

TPC Craig Ranch is the host course for the fourth consecutive season. A course that features easy scoring conditions, fairways so wide your 18 handicap buddy could hit them, and large receptive greens. The average winning score of 25-under par means there will be plenty of birdies and eagles this week.

The Byron Nelson has never been the strongest of fields. This year's field is weaker than most due to it being in the midst of a six week stretch that includes two "signature events' and two majors.

Thankfully for those planning to watch the event this weekend Jordan Spieth is making the start in his home state. He is the only top-20 player teeing it up this week. He's joined by nine other players ranked inside the top-50 in the world rankings including Jason Day, Tom Kim, Will Zalatoris, Min Woo Lee, Byeong Hun An, Sungjae Im, Stephan Jaeger, and Si Woo Kim.

Venue (TPC Craig Ranch)

TPC Craig Ranch is a par-71 course that plays upwards of 7,414 yards from the championship tees. Making TPC Craig Ranch the tenth longest course on Tour. The course features wide fairways (8th widest on Tour), few hazards, and larger than PGA Tour standard greens.

Winning scores at TPC Craig Ranch have been low. K.H. Lee won the event at -25 and -26 under par in 2021/2022. Jason Day won the event last year at -23 under par. Overall, the course plays as the fourth easiest on Tour at 2.43 strokes under par.

Only five holes at Craig Ranch have played at over par, and it contains the highest birdie-to-bogey ratio at 2.2. This course is a true scorer's nirvana. Players looking to win the event this week will need to go low all four rounds by striking their irons well and making putts on the greens.

Looking at the upcoming forecast the area is expecting heavy rainfall Wednesday/Thursday which will only soften conditions and allow players to be more aggressive on their approaches. As of now, winds are forecast to gust between 20-30 mph each day of the tournament. That might be the only chance of keeping scores below -20 for the week.
