Bottom of the Barrel 2023 NFL DFS Week 17 QB

Welcome to the Bottom of the Barrel 2023 NFL DFS Week 14 QB edition!

You may have thought about this before, but we are in that weird funk before Christmas. I have even mentioned that a time or two over the past few weeks. A pre-Christmas funk. What does that entail exactly? That is the fun part! Shockingly enough it can mean anything! What you toss around in your head is your own business. What I toss around in my mind I put in print.

The first week of December, to me, brings a mix of excitement, anxiety, and some laziness. Are all three mutually exclusive? Not likely so it brings us to an exhaustive end. I will say, more than likely, one of these feelings must happen, so these three possibilities together exhaust all the possibilities! That brings us to a collectively exhaustive end. How we all feel by the end of December anyway!

Enough logic and probability theory lets talk about Week 14 of the NFL season. More specifically the quarterback position. The days have been going by so fast, which leads to each month flying down. In the landscape of the NFL change isn’t always a good thing. Yet, the press and head coaches will spin it as such. What we thought we knew yesterday is no longer valid today—case in point, Jake Browning and the Bengals.

The wider view of Week 14 is still coming into focus for me. Per usual, as I know you will know! In every tidbit of Bottom of the Barrel!

Josh Allen Bills at Chiefs(9th)

Josh Allen is the perfect quarterback to start this article. The topic of Week 14 must be about the changing landscape of the NFL. This game was circled on our calendars when the NFL dropped their 2023 schedule! Has this game lost its luster?

The Bills are 6-6 and tied with Denver and Cincinnati in the standings. They are currently on the outside looking in. Buffalo needs every win they can get their hands on. The Chiefs offense has been stagnant. The idea of a full-blown over and a repeat of the AFC Championship game is up in the air. I know you want it. Yet, these two teams aren’t the same as they were back then.

Competition is what we should first think of here. Josh and Patrick Mahomes have, in the past, brought out the best in each other. I see no reason why we cannot believe in them in Week 14. I have Josh Allen for 25-26 completed passes, 265-270 yards, and two touchdown passes. To go with 6-7 rushing attempts for 30-35 yards. Would not be shocked if Josh found the endzone with his legs too.

Jared Goff Lions at Bears(27th)

It is not a shock any longer that the Lion's defense will bend. Their offense can also do some damage. So, it comes down to one simple question. Which offense do you trust more?

After being embarrassed, at home, on Thanksgiving Jared Goff and the Lions came out swinging in New Orleans last week. While I do see both sides of this game even the trap game narrative the final score will be in our favor. Meaning, us daily fantasy sports players!

Win or lose give me Jared Goff to complete 24-25 passes for 265-270 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Russell Wilson Broncos at Chargers(28th)

The term, “Let him cook!” has always made me chuckle. When we get to, “Let Russ cook!” it makes me uncomfortable. I have always been an empathic man. If I see someone trip or say something stupid, I will get embarrassed for them. Used to think of it as a defect of my character but I have been able to use it to my advantage over the years.

The Chargers team in general has been an oddity the past few weeks. Tough to fire their coach after a win in New England. Albeit a 6-0 win. Denver’s win streak came to an end at the hands of the Texans.

Maybe I am way off base here, but a 5-game winning streak halted by another competitive game is no cause for concern. I just had this feeling the Broncos steamrolled the Chargers at Sofi Stadium on Sunday. Leading that charge will be Russell Wilson.

Look for Russ to cook. To the tune of 20-21 completions, 210 yards, and a touchdown pass. To go along with an additional 7-8 rushing attempts for 40-45 yards and another touchdown!

Matthew Stafford Rams at Ravens(1st)

The old cagey vet is at it again! It seems ridiculous to play any quarterback against the Raven's defense but if I had to pick one it would be Matthew Stafford. Stafford completed 22 of 37 passes for 279 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions on Sunday.

Matt has completed 67.1 percent of his passes over the last two weeks while not being sacked or intercepted. Ahead of the Week 13 game against Cleveland, no one expected Stafford to do what he did. So why can’t he pull out another rabbit from his helmet in Cleveland?

This is exactly the kind of play we all look for in GPPs. While we cannot count on anything from Stafford this week that is the beauty of betting! I have Matthew around 21-22 completed passes, 240 yards, and two touchdown passes.

Gardner Minshew II Colts at Bengals(25th)

Cannot believe I am about to say what I am about to say but here it goes. Minshew Mania is rolling for the Colts right now! That overtime win in Tennessee last week was phenomenal! He completed 26 passes for 312 yards and two touchdowns. One of which was the game-winning score in OT!

On the other sideline will be the more than formidable Bengals. What they accomplished on Monday night was impressive. We have two teams coming together after both winning an emotional game. Both teams are running with their backup quarterbacks. Shake it all up and what do we get?

I honestly do not know. What I will say is I have Gardner to keep it rolling with another pair of touchdown passes. To go with around 250 passing yards.
