Welcome to the Bottom of the Barrel 2023 NFL DFS Week 14 WR edition!
Bottom of the Barrel 2023 NFL DFS Week 14 WR
The wide receiver spot in Week 14 is all over the map! The top eight guys on FanDuel have tough matchups, on paper at least. On DraftKings, it is their top seven players. There are a few ways to plan around this. My favorite way is to pluck players from the mid-tier of all the pricing. On top of also digging in a little deep!
There are two gift-wrapped players atop the running back player pool. Christian McCaffrey against the Seahawks and Alvin Kamara against Carolina. Both backs are at home and it could not get any sweeter. If we plug in those two first we still have a ton of wiggle room. It is affordable given the value at wide receiver.
Every single week of the NFL season brings a different challenge and a different plan of attack. That is why I still enjoy the entire idea of DFS. It never gets stale. It is never boring. It is never predictable. It is about sitting down and formulating your own story. My Week 14 Bottom of the Barrel plans at wide receiver include several rookies. The kid gloves are off and these rookies are starting to find their way.
Enough is enough. Let's get to the Week 14 action at wide receiver! If you missed them or just want to double-check Bottom of the Barrel at the Quarterback position or Running Back spot for Week 14 just click the link!
Justin Jefferson Vikings at Raiders(12th)
First game back since Week 5 and he just jumps right to the top of the board! Let’s hope Jefferson finds his way on the field that fast! Justin will also play with a quarterback other than Kirk Cousins for just the second time in his four-year career. If he is active, then we must pay attention!
To be clear the Vikings starting quarterback, Joshua Dobbs did throw four interceptions last week against the Bears. Granted Justin Jefferson is a different beast and should only help the Minnesota cause in Week 14.
Stefon Diggs Bills at Chiefs(13th)
Would be contradictory to mention the highest-priced player on FanDuel and then move on like DraftKings isn’t as popular. The Buffalo Bills were on their bye in Week 13. What a welcome back to the schedule by going to Kansas City and battling the Chiefs in Arrowhead.
All the commercialized fun aside Stefon Diggs was fantastic in Week 12. Targeted 11 times with six catches and a touchdown. Stefon sits at 8 total touchdowns this year. He has a real shot at making it ten by the time this game is over.
Drake London Falcons vs. Buccaneers(28th)
I have made my point clear when it comes to the Atlanta Falcons. They have a good team! Their current ideology of running the ball a lot isn’t awful. What else would you do with the combination of Bijan Robinson and Tyler Allgeier?
This entire coaching staff might be out of a job soon. So, the only reason why I am bothered with Drake London is in hopes they target him early and often. The current Atlanta team’s implied point total is 21.3 points. To me, that means three touchdowns. One for Bijan, one for Allgeier, and one for London.
Elijah Moore Browns vs. Jaguars(26th)
Browns wide receiver Amari Cooper left in the second quarter of last week’s game due to a concussion. While Elijah Moore gathered a season-high 12 targets from new QB Joe Flacco. There will be increased volume for Elijah in Week 14. Given the matchup and current state of the Jaguars, it is an opportunity we need to pounce on.
Noah Brown Texans @ Jets(1st)
Noah Brown took the field in Week 13 for the first time since Week 10 as he’s been dealing with a knee injury. Unfortunately, standout rookie wide receiver Tank Dell broke his leg last week. I positively wish him the best and a quick recovery.
In the meantime, there is still football to be played. Plus, the Texans are in the thick of an AFC Playoff race. Plus, rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud has been unbelievably good and has entered another race! The MVP race!
The hole left by Tank Dell will be a large one. Nico, Woods, Brevin, Pierce, and Singletary will all be in play but so will Noah Brown. When push comes to shove Noah Brown can carry our DFS entries.
Josh Downs Colts at Bengals(19th)
After that Monday Night Football overtime win against Jacksonville the Bengals aren’t just going to lay down and die without Joe Burrow. Which I find to be fantastic when it comes to the Colts and Week 14.
Josh Downs is not just another budding rookie wide receiver. He can be a game-changer. I find his talent and this slot role with the Colts to be an awakening. If you split and go search Josh Downs, I guarantee you will come across the word, or term, not exciting or overshadowed several times.
That is fine by me! Right where we other folks to be. Completely out on Downs. His slot targets and routes run this week against Cincinnati could prove vital to their success on the field and our DFS lines. I am thinking 7-8 targets and around 60 yards. The Colts are projected to score about 21.5 points. Once again, to me, that means three touchdowns. Josh should be in on at least one of those.
Jerry Jeudy Broncos at Chargers(30th)
Jerry recorded three receptions for 51 yards in Week 13. Jeudy did have a nice 41-yard catch in which he was forced down just before finding the endzone! Look, I have never lied to any of you. Sure, I have taken a few liberties and shared my hopes and dreams with you. I hope they come to fruition on the football field.
That is exactly what we have here with Jerry Jeudy this week. The Broncos head to Los Angeles this week and are going through their issues. Like only scoring six points in Foxborough last week. The Charger's struggles aside, Bottom of the Barrel loves Russell Wilson this week. Only makes sense to stack Denver under the radar. Using Jerry Jeudy as one of our WRs is a nice choice.
Odell Beckham Jr. Ravens vs. Rams(10th)
OBJ had four catches for 116 yards in Week 11 against Cincinnati. Odell has a nice matchup against Stafford and the Rams this week. I also like the fact Baltimore is coming out of their bye week. Beckham has also caught touchdown passes in two of his last four games.
In all honesty, I have never been a big OBJ fan over the years. Yet, over the last few months, I found him to be a likable guy. Let’s also not discount the fact that Odell won a Super Bowl with this same Rams team a few seasons ago. All the love and handshakes will go down before kickoff then once the clock starts it is game on.
The Rams have won three games in a row. The Ravens are mentioned as one of the best teams in football. This one should be all gas and no brakes. That setting favors Odell Beckham Jr.
