Bottom of the Barrel 2023 NFL DFS Week 16 RB

Welcome to the Bottom of the Barrel 2023 NFL DFS Week 15 RB edition!

As we inch closer to Christmas all the parties and pleasantries exchanged become exhausting. I am not a mean man or a Scrooge by any means, but I enjoy my alone time. Peace and quiet is what I am after.

The idea of a secret society when it comes to DFS running backs is interesting. At first glance, that sentence makes no sense. However, when we get this late in any football season folks get desperate for more information. Specifically, insider information! There are no sneak answers. I cannot see the future and I do not have any tips or tricks that I have not shared already.

What we see is what we get the rest of the way. It is more about predictive game scripts using the information we already must paint the picture. What I have laid out for you this week in Bottom of the Barrel is a collection of my own thoughts and ideas about the running back position.

Let’s get on with it and see where it takes us!

Christian McCaffrey 49ers at Cardinals(31st)

It is CMC on the road against an awful defense. An unbelievable workload meets unbelievable talent, and you get otherworldly results. He has averaged 5.2 yards per carry with 17 total touchdowns this year. Christmas is coming early Sunday afternoon in the desert. Yippee Ki-Yay mother f*cker!

Clyde Edwards Helaire Chiefs at Patriots(11th)

I cannot help but think back to that place and time when the Chiefs drafted Clyde with the last pick in the draft and the tailspin it sent folks into. People were willing to sell their souls in seasonal formats for him. Fast forward to last week and he was tossed aside like yesterday’s paper.

Then it happened—that next-man-up rationale. Isiah Pacheco hurt his shoulder. While Pacheco remains questionable for this week, he still hasn’t practiced in almost 10 ten days. CEH could be a good move if he is called upon this week.

Looking across all the different formats Yahoo Sports is the only one who hasn’t caught up with their pricing. Or, it just could be an irrational trap.

Devin Singletary Texans at Titans(16th)

Speaking of traps or being tricked Dameon Pierce pulled one over on us last week. Well, rather the Houston Texans did. I spent last week pumping up Pierce and he got four carries. While Devin, once again, leads the Houston backfield in touches.

Now in my mind, we are playing the old find the ball game as the three cups are moved around right in front of us. Over the last three weeks, Dameon had 5, 15, and 4 carries over the last three weeks. While Devin saw 6, 8, and 13 carries over the last three weeks. What does any of this mean? No clue. I have no words of wisdom or smart alec comment.

Given the importance of this game for the Texans I would imagine they pull out all of the stops.

Tyjae Spears Titans vs. Texans(17th)

On the opposing sideline awaits the young rookie speedster Tyjae Spears. In my mind, Tyjae has all the makings of the heir apparent at running back for the Titans. As Tennessee currently sits at 5-8, they are a lame duck in terms of the NFL Playoffs. Derrick Henry is still the man in Nashville and will be very active.

Yet, oddly I have this feeling the Titans are already looking ahead to next season. Let the kid, Spears, see some real run in the last few weeks of the season. It saves some treads on the King's tires and they can still make a run next year.

Who knows if any of this is true? None of it is. It is all made-up bullshit from my head, but it does make some sense! Spears finished second on the team in targets, catches, and receiving yards last week. We can safely expect more of the same in Week 15.

D’Onta Foreman Bears at Browns(12th)

Foreman resumed his role as Chicago’s lead back in Week 14. Foreman had 11 rushing attempts for 50 yards and caught two passes for 22 yards. Once again, I feel we are playing the guessing game with another running back. I also spent last week pumping up rooking RB Roschon Johnson only to watch him get one carry. Bad take on my part.

Cleveland is allowing the 19th-most points per game to running backs this season. If D’Onta remains in that lead role for the Bears on Sunday I have faith he finds the endzone.

Tyler Allgeier Falcons at Panthers(30th)

Tyler rushed nine times for 40 yards last week but was not targeted in the passing game. Unfortunately, Tampa Bay tightened up their defense against him and Bijan. I can safely say that will not be the case in Week 15 against the Panthers.

With that loss last week against the Buccaneers, it dropped them out of the division lead. Which is important as we’re in the homestretch of the season. I see no reason why the Falcons won’t go run heavy in this one. Leading to a successful day for Tyler.
