Bottom of the Barrel 2023 NFL DFS Week 16 RB

Welcome to the Bottom of the Barrel 2023 NFL DFS Week 7 RB Edition!

Social media is an odd place. A place where strangers like to place such unreasonable expectations on others. It creates all these imaginary hoops people think they must jump through. I understand the idea of wanting to give helpful advice or share life experiences.

Being compared to someone might be my least favorite thing. Most times my lowest point is being compared to someone else’s highlight reel. It just doesn’t add up. It certainly isn’t a confidence boost. Most of everything we have learned to be a respectful human being we learned in kindergarten. Be kind, respect others, and treat others how you’d want to be treated.

We must respect all the time and dedication of what other people are doing. We have all run into other people, friends, and family who think we are weird. Whether it’s what we are eating, studying, or hobbies. What some folks consider weird might be normal for you. What we make fun of might be some trying their hardest. Take it easy. Plus, it can always be worse! If you are reading this, I appreciate the support you have shown me over the last few months.

Week 7 of the NFL is hideous in terms of the running back position. Not only are six teams on their bye week but some of the most talented runners are hurt and/or ailing. What can we do?

How about we turn to Bottom of the Barrel and invest a little more into daily fantasy sports? If that’s what you’re into then let’s roll! Time to chat about this week’s crop of Week 7 running backs!

Austin Ekeler Chargers at Chiefs(4th)

From a price perspective, Austin Ekeler is the most expensive running back on the Main slate. From a match-up perspective, he's not on my shortlist. Kansas City will always be about Patrick Mahomes, Andy Reid, and Travis Kelce as they remain Chiefs. Plain and simple, offense. Yet, when we dig a little deeper their defense is strong! The addition of Drue Tranquill at linebacker and the emergence of defensive back Trent McDuffie has this unit rolling.

We can always play, "but the opposing team will need to keep pace with the Chief's offense game!" in Ekeler's case. Truth be told that is a legit way to talk yourself into Ekeler this week. I have him around 11-12 carries, 55-60 yards, 4-5 receptions, and another 40 yards. If we do some quick math that's around 100 all-purpose yards. Sweet. Great. Awesome. Fantastic. As we scroll through Bottom of the Barrel there are around 7-8 cheaper backs who can, and will, do the same. Meaning, the beautiful idea of value opens up and parts like the Red Sea!

AJ Dillon Packers at Broncos(32nd)

Slam dunk. Sure thing. In all honesty, I almost forgot to write a blurb about AJ Dillon! He was first in my notepad but accidentally skipped right over him! Did not even notice until I began to put the finishing touches on the article!

AJ set season highs in carries (20) and rushing yards (70) and scored his first touchdown of the season in Week 5. With the Packers on bye in Week 6 and Aaron Jones status still up in the air I love the idea of AJ Dillon in a large number of my GPP entries this week!

I have him around 11-12 carries, 45-50 yards, and a reception or two for another 10-15 yards.

Kareem Hunt Browns at Colts(24th)

Hunt rushed 12 times for 47 yards and a touchdown with three catches for 24 yards last week. What a win! The Cleveland Browns beat the 49ers! That was then and this is now. Right now Hunt isn't practicing. As far as Wednesday the 18th. It is a situation to keep an eye on. If Hunt doesn't play and P.J. Walker is back under center Jerome Ford would be the play.

Jahmyr Gibbs Lions at Ravens(15th)

David Montgomery won't be playing on Sunday. Come to find out Craig Reynolds is dinged up too! Meaning, that after a two-week absence, this rookie could have the backfield to himself! Can you imagine the possibilities?

Rachaad White Buccaneers vs. Falcons(5th)

What happened last week against Detroit was odd. White ran for 26 yards on only 7 carries against the Lions. He also caught 3-of-4 targets for 12 more yards through the air. White was sharing touches with Ke'Shawn Vaughn! What on earth? Let's call it a one-week anomaly as Tampa Bay finds more success on offense against the Falcons.

I have Rachaad around 14-15 carries, 60 yards, 3-4 receptions, for another 20 yards.

Javonte Williams Broncos vs. Packers(28th)

Was great to see Javonte Williams run for 52 yards on 10 carries against KC last week. Realistically, that was it. Hate to keep it so short here with Javonte but it really is now or never. We're on the cusp of Week 7 and he still hasn't scored a touchdown. Slow starts are fine. I get it. Based on him shredding up his right knee over a year ago but now it's time.

Either he scores a touchdown this week or there is going to be big trouble. I say he breaks through and finds paydirt!

Roschon Johnson Bears vs. Raiders(21st)

Rookie running back Johnson was held out of Week 6 with a concussion. So far this week things aren't looking too promising. Roschon actually hasn't practiced since suffering that concussion on Thursday to kick off Week 5. Hopefully, the Bears are just being overly cautious with their rooking RB seeing how they have D'Onta Foreman in their back pocket if need be.

Personally, I think he plays and sees around 11-12 rushing attempts. About 55-60 yards and 3-4 receptions for an additional 20 yards.

Jaylen Warren Steelers at Rams(9th)

Thankfully, we have DFS. Well, that's what I'm trying to sell to all the Najee Harris owners. Jaylen had nine carries for 40 yards in Week 5. Also, the kid is a fantastic pass-catcher to boot! He has at least three catches in all five of the games he's played in so far. Another fun fact, Jaylen has yet to score a touchdown or rush for more than 40 yards in any game this year.

Another hump I think can Jaylen getting over this week. Sure, Najee Harris has outtouched him 15-12 Warren has been the more efficient of the two backs. Pencil Warren in for about 7-8 carries, 35 yards, 4-5 catches, 35 yards, and finally scores a touchdown!

Keaontay Ingram Cardinals at Seahawks(16th)

When the Cards put James Connor on the IR folks flocked to waiver to add Emari Demercado. Was a head-scratching idea given the fact Ingram has always been listed as JC's backup. Head-scratching, a tad, mainly because Ingram, at the time, had missed Weeks 4 and 5. Well, fast forward to last week and Demercado only ran 27 routes last week with just one measly target and two carries.

Hold on though! It was not all sunshine and rainbows for Keaontay in Week 6. Ingram carried the ball 10 times for 40 yards and added 11 yards on two catches. So there was no real winner of the two but still, headed into Week 7, I'd prefer Keaontay.
