Welcome back for another installment of the 2022 Dynasty Baseball Player of the Week, as we look at Mariners infielder Ty France.
I hope everyone is enjoying their week thus far! I have been battling a cold this week and I am exhausted. This weekend I will be helping my sister and her fiancé move back to the Boston area. That will surely be a good time.
But, before we get started, don’t forget to check out Dave’s Dynasty Baseball Rankings and the On Deck Circle Podcast!

Master of none
France was not a highly touted prospect or even drafted in the first 10 rounds. He was selected in the 34th round of the 2015 MLB draft by the San Diego Padres. Usually, players picked this late do not even sniff a major league roster.
France is different. He worked hard, and he hit.
Coming up, there was no real position for him to play. So what did France do? Well, he played a little bit everywhere. That attitude is what got him regular at-bats last year with the Seattle Mariners. Top prospect Evan White got hurt, so France got a first baseman's mitt and played the part. His bat ultimately showed out, and the Mariners have found a spot for it ever since.
Right down to business
France has been a man on fire throughout the beginning of the 2022 campaign. He has been slashing .368/.443/.632 leading to an OPS of 1.075. What has impressed me the most is his xBA. It is sitting at .380, which is at the top - showing that he might be even getting a little unlucky at where he is hitting the ball. France currently sits top five in total hits with 25.
France is not only just hitting for contact, but he has five homers in just 79 plate appearances. In addition, he is second in the majors in RBI with 21, behind only Jose Ramirez's 25 runs batted in.

Verdict
France has been one of the best hitters in the MLB thus far this season. The once thought-of utility man has hit his way into the lineup card for the majority of the games this year. Dave currently has France as his 250th ranked dynasty player; I surely see him rising up the rankings in his upcoming update. I would be confident in saying to go add France in every league. Unfortunately for me, I know I will not be able to get him in my main league!
