Fantasy Basketball Week 15 Preview

on

This past week in the NBA the All Star reserves were announced. Every year there are Snubs. Last year Stephen Curry was left off the team only to be named starter the following year. This year it seems there were a few, most noteably: Goran DragicLance Stephenson, and Kyle Lowry. In a fantasy dynamic this can have it’s implications if you own an All Star “Snub.” Do they play with a fiery passion to show the league they are deserving or do they relegate and play as per their “below par” All Star status? If the first game after the announcements is any indication I would say the “Snubs” are playing with a Fiery Passion. Dragic has been cooking since the announcement, Stephenson dropped a triple double, and Kyle Lowry has been knocking down big shot after big shot leading his team to victories.

Aside from the “Snubs” there are some players due back from injury soon and this will affect your fantasy basketball lineups. Of note are players like Kemba WalkerSteve NashSteve BlakeChris Paul, and Russell Westbrook. The return of these players will send their back ups screaming to bench roles and reduced minutes.

Below I will look at some start them, sit them players along with the weekly schedule for this coming week 15 in the NBA. All assumptions based on a 14 team roto league.

Start’Em/Sit ‘Em

Ronny Turiaf (PF/C – MIN) – Turiaf is expected to start in place of Pekovic in week 15. Owners in need of blocks, this is your cue. Turiaf is an excellent shot blocker and decent rebounder. In a starting roll Turiaf is averaging over two blocks per game. Owners in need of points should look elsewhere in week 15.

Ramon Sessions (PG/SG – CHA) – With Kemba Walker likely to return in week 15, Sessions will be reverted to fantasy irrelevance. Owners prudent enough to grab Sessions had a good two week run. Due to the uncertainty surrounding when Kemba will return and the Bobcats only playing twice this week Sessions can be benched. Also keep an eye on replacing him as soon as Kemba is slated to return.

Darren Collison (Pg – LAC) – With Paul also set to return in week 15 Darren will  take a big hit. This is a situation worth monitoring. The Clippers will be deep in the back court and with Jamal Crawford’s ability to run the point there will be not much use for Collison behind Paul. Collison has played well covering for CP3 but all good things come to an end. Bench in week 15.

Evan Fournier (PG/SG – DEN) – With the Nuggets back court banged up Fournier is the player to own.   Nate Robinson will require surgery to repair a torn ACL and will miss the entire season. With the propensity of Ty Lawson to miss games Fournier seems like a logical play. He will get nice run in week 15 so go ahead and start him.

Jarret Jack (PG/SG – CLE) – This past week Jarrett Jack has moved into the starting lineup along side Kyrie Irving. There are reports on a malfunctioning locker room in Cleveland and there could be some shakeup on the roster so monitor the situation closely. For now and along as starting play Jack with confidence in week 15.
