MLB DFS 4-8-22 Stacks

MLB DFS 4-8-22 Stacks

Welcome to the MLB DFS 4-8-22 Stacks post!

In yesterday's post, I suggested stacking the Cardinals, Mets and Padres. Tyler O'Neill got St. Louis off to a hot start and finished with a home run and five RBI. Nolan Arenado added a two-run home run in the ninth inning. Paul Goldschmidt walked four times hit a single and scored two runs.

The Mets-Nationals game was pushed back until 8:20 pm EST after rain in the afternoon. New York's offense was a bit delayed as well but ended up with 12 hits, four walks and three hit by pitches! They managed to score five runs but it could have been so much more. As a team they were 4-11 with runners in scoring position.

San Diego only scored two runs and actually drew more walks (7) than they managed hits (4)! Seth Beer hit a walk-off three-run home run for the Diamondbacks, on National Beer Day!

But that was yesterday, today we have new pitchers to target and lineups to stack!

Friday's main slate features just five of the 13 games on the schedule. However, with this many games and numerous slates, I think it's a good idea to share teams playing in whatever slate you decide to play tomorrow.

Gerrit Cole (vs Red Sox), Lucas Giolito (@ Tigers), Brandon Woodruff (@ Cubs), Aaron Nola (vs A's), Walker Buehler (@ Rockies), Robbie Ray (@ Twins), Charlie Morton (vs Reds) and Max Scherzer (@ Nationals) are pitchers I am going to avoid tomorrow.

Los Angeles Dodgers vs Kyle Freeland (LHP)

Mookie Betts
Justin Turner
Will Smith

Kyle Freeland limited the Dodgers to just three earned runs in both starts against Los Angeles at Coors Field in 2021. However, his ERA was 4.83 at home last year and 4.46 the year before. He is also a terrible pitcher in day games over the last two years with a 6.58 ERA.

There are a handful of stacks you can play with this Dodgers lineup, but it might be a good idea to play valuable stacks. Ones that will allow you to pay for a top pitcher and another high-end 2/3 player stack. Freddie Freeman, Trea Turner, Max Muncy...the entire Dodgers lineup is rosterable.

Atlanta Braves vs Reiver Sanmartin (LHP)

Matt Olson
Ozzie Albies
Marcell Ozuna

Reiver Sanmartin made two starts against the Pittsburgh Pirates last year, with success. He posted an 11:2 K:BB ratio and while he did allow 12 hits, he only surrendered two runs - to the Pirates. The Braves offense is a much different animal than last year's Pittsburgh lineups last September. His average fastball velocity is just 89 mph. FanGraphs sees a lot of Jon Lester pitch types when finding Sanmartin comps.

Ozzie Albies owns a .957 OPS, .398 wOBA and 146 wRC+ off left-handed pitching over the last three seasons.

In 165 fewer plate appearances, Olson hit five more home runs (22) off left-handed pitchers last year compared to facing righties (18).
