NBA DFS 1-15-21 DraftKings Picks

on

Welcome to the NBA DFS 1-15-21 DraftKings picks article!

Christian Wood was expected to be a popular top pick with the lack of players the Houston Rockets had available last night and he didn’t disappoint. Wood ended the night nearly leading the slate with 54.75 DK points!

Shake Milton ended as the guard with the second most DK points at 51 which shows you the kind of night it was.

We have a normal slate tonight at eight seven games after just five games last night.

The Wizards-Pistons and Warriors-Suns games were postponed due to COVID contact tracing. And you can now add the Wolves-Grizzlies game as well.

There are a lot of value plays tonight with so many players expected to miss games but tonight I’m going to share the players I am paying up for!

Eight Seven Game Slate

Mavs vs. Bucks (-6.5) – 228 over/under
Clippers (-6.5) vs Kings – 227.5 o/u
Hawks vs. Jazz (-6) – 226.5 o/u
Bulls (-1) vs. Thunder – 225 o/u
Pelicans vs. Lakers (-9.5) – 218.5 o/u
Magic vs. Celtics (-3.5) – 213.5 o/u
Knicks (-2.5) vs. Cavs – 197.5 o/u
Grizzlies vs. Wolves (-2) – 224.5 o/u PPD

Guards

Trae Young, Atlanta Hawks ($8,700)

The All-Star guard is too cheap for his usage in this game, currently tied for 4th. Surprisingly the Jazz have been only average at best on the defensive side this season.

Young scored 45DK in just 25 minutes on Monday against a tougher 76ers defense. This is the first time Young has been below $9K, don’t get cute.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Oklahoma City Thunder ($7,700)

SGA had a forgettable night on Wednesday against the Lakers but look for him to bounce back against a bad Chicago defense, ranked third worst in the league.

The Bulls are currently playing at the third fastest pace which should allow him more possessions. The ascending star has a high floor in this game and I wouldn’t be surprised if he ended up as one of the top plays in the slate.

He’s averaging about 42 DK points per game over the past 5 games.

Zach LaVine, Chicago Bulls ($9,500)

Lavine is showing critics why he felt snubbed missing last year’s All-Star game. He’s having a career year so far in all statistical categories.

Aside from his 45 point eruption against the Clippers on Sunday, he’s averaging a whopping 38.3 points per game over his last 3 games. Look for him to continue to be the focal point of the offense against a bad Thunder team.

Forwards

Jaylen Brown, Boston Celtics ($8,900)

As long as Jayson Tatum is out Brown will be a must-start as the offense will go through him.

Orlando does have one of the best defenses in the league and play at a slow pace but the usage factor is too much to ignore. Brown has become more aggressive on the offensive end this season, already currently 9th in the NBA in field goals attempted per game.

Giannis Antetokounmpo, Milwaukee Bucks($10,800)

There are three things certain in life: death, taxes, and the Greek Freak under $11K is a lock. With the lack of top tier forwards in this slate, I expect him to be one of the highest owned players.

Giannis is tied for fourth in usage this season, his biggest threat has been the potential blowout but the matchup with the Mavericks should be a close one. Play him and reap the benefits.

LeBron James, Los Angeles Lakers ($9,700)

James continues to show age is just a number playing in his 16th season. With a shortened off-season it was expected that his workload would be monitored but that hasn’t been the case so far this season.

He’s currently sixth in usage rate and that’s while averaging about 31 mpg (career-low). The King will arguably be the best pick on the slate if teammate Anthony Davis misses the game with a lower back injury, he is currently questionable.
