NBA DFS 12-29-22 Yahoo Breakdown

by Cody Cook

Cody Cook, aka @DProdiogy, here breaking down the NBA DFS 12-29-22 Yahoo Breakdown of the six-game NBA slate!

It is the last slate before the New Year and I can't wait for 2023 to come!

Tonight starts with the Cleveland Cavaliers as 5-point favorites traveling to Indiana to play the Pacers. The over/under is set at 223.5 points.

The second game is a high-paced brawl between the Oklahoma City Thunder headed to face off against Charlotte Hornets who are 1-point favorites. We have an extremely high over/under for this game, set at 240 points. Our middle game is a high-intensity game between the Los Angeles Clippers playing the Boston Celtics who are 6.5 favorites. The over/under is set at 227.5 points. For the fourth game, we have what should be a close battle between the Memphis Grizzles who are 3-point favorites, playing the Toronto Raptors. The over/under is set at 227 points.

After coming off a devasting loss to the Dallas Mavericks, the New York Knicks are 4.5 favorites playing the San Antonio Spurs. The over/ under is set at 226 points. Last but not least is the late-night game with the Dallas Mavericks as massive favorites at 11.5 points playing the Houston Rockets. The over/under is set at 222.5 points.

Our injury report has RJ Barrett, Aleksej Pokusevski, and  Dorian Finney-Smith listed as out. With those three players highlighted players as non-options, let's look at the rest of the slate.

NBA DFS 12-29-22 Yahoo Breakdown

Point Guard - Immanuel Quickley, $16, New York Knicks

Immanuel Quickley automatically stood out to me starting with the Point Guard position. The guard looked good in the minutes he had played and saw a huge boom in minutes when RJ Barrett exited the Dallas Mavericks game in their overtime loss.  If you are counting the overtime minutes, Immanuel Quickley saw 50 minutes of total game time. For the value of $16 on Yahoo, I want all of his minutes here and someone I can take on as a discount!

Other Options-Luka Donic and LaMelo Ball

Shooting Guard - Terry Rozier, $28, Charlotte Hornets

As we move from point guard to shooting guard, the one thing that stood out to me was Kelly Oubre Jr is doubtful. Therefore, I am taking a stand on Terry Rozier to play a ton of minutes and the game itself will be super high-paced. Thus, I want the quick guard in Terry Rozier to see open shots with the Oklahoma City Thunder focusing on LaMelo Ball. As the matchup starts to pick up the pace, the stars will shine for Terry Rozier. Don't be scared of the price tag. It will scare off some other entries, but it allows us to take advantage since the Thunder defense doesn't stand a chance!

Other Options- Jalen Green and Desmond Bane

Small Forward - Luguentz Dort, $15, Oklahoma City Thunder

I thought I would never talk about Luguentz Dort but today is the day! He stands out in this matchup with how I like this game as I stated above. Aleksej Pokusevski is out for this game and Luguentz Dort will see more minutes now, more than he already does. I am expecting the production to be there and him to help carry the offense not only as the third man but also on the defensive end. We need a value pick. This is the way to go.

Other Options-Gordon Hayward and Jaylen Brown

Power Forward - Julius Randle, $38, New York Knicks

There are a few narratives I am liking as Julius Randle is my favorite spend-up option on the slate. In the first narrative, the injury status of Jalen Brunson is questionable, and RJ Barret is out. This will be a bump up in usage rates for Julius Randle as the offense flows through him. In the second narrative, this is a home-state game where he will want to show up again as he did in the Dallas Mavericks. Tying into the second narrative, expect him to bounce back in a massive way after the overtime loss. Fortunately, the narratives align. Cheer on our spend-up option of the slate!

Other Options-Jeremy Sochan and Evan Mobley

Center - Robert Williams III, $18, Boston Celtics

I am taking a shot at another value who had an amazing game against the Houston Rockets. In only 20 minutes, he eclipsed over 30 fantasy points. That is a crazy stat line in the rebounding category! I am liking him to see additional minutes this game and should see his fantasy total rise. Take the value while you can before he booms even more. This price tag won't stay low for long!

Other Options-Jarret Allen and Myles Turner
