Early this week, we looked at DraftKings NFL DFS week 1 pricing vs DST pricing to preview matchups. Now, let’s compare FanDuel to DraftKings.
We made it very simple and used budget percentage to compare the players on both sites:
- FanDuel budget is $60,000
- DraftKings budget is $50,000
Sunday Night Football is not part of the main slate, so the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears are not an option.
We also have the Monday Night Football double-header keeping four more teams out of the main slate – the New York Jets @ Detroit Lions and Los Angeles Rams @ Oakland Raiders.
NFL DFS Week 1 FanDuel Salary Breakdown
If you are going to play Patrick Mahomes, it looks like FanDuel is a better site to do so on vs DraftKings, but you will be doing so on the road against the Chargers defense.
Marcus Mariota is also a bit cheaper on FanDuel and as I wrote about in my Titans Preview, I am very excited about Tennessee’s potential this year under new leadership. In Miami, against a poor Dolphins defense, this is a good matchup to roll with Mariota.
It appears FanDuel priced Rex Burkhead under the assumption that Patriots rookie RB Sony Michel misses week 1 against the Texans.
Joe Mixon is priced as RB13 against the Colts defense, sign me up!
The top WRs are also more expensive on DraftKings than FanDuel. But, like the RBs, the lower priced players will cost a little bit extra budget.
FanDuel believes in Saints WRs Cameron Meredith and Ted Ginn Jr against the Bucs. Same with Ravens wideout John Brown and Patriots WR Phillip Dorsett, despite seeing just 18 targets last year with New England.
I don’t like the matchup for Evan Engram against the Jaguars.
Jordan Reed could provide a huge ROI if he plays week 1. But as usual, we must keep an eye on his health. If he can’t go week 1 against the Cardinals (no reason to think that at the moment), Vernon Davis is a cheap option on FanDuel!
Team Defense/Special Teams
I had to double check my numbers when I first created this chart.
FanDuel did away with the kicker position, added a flex spot, and has cheaper RBs/WRs. It appears they were able to do so by making every DST eat up more budget than on DraftKings.
My guess would be that very few lineups feature the Bills or Bengals defense on FanDuel, so if you want to be super contrarian, I guess those are two options!
The Bills play at Ravens while the Bengals play Andrew Luck and the Colts, in Indy.
