Some Quick Tips For Fantasy Basketball Beginners

Check Your Waivers

Once the fantasy season begins, you’re going to want to drop and add players due to a number of different factors. If a player suffers an injury, it’s often a good idea to swap him out immediately. However, things become tricky when your star player suffers an injury which may not keep them out all season. If you have last year’s MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo in your roster for example who then gets injured for a month or two, it makes sense to keep him for when he returns to fitness. The “Greek Freak” is the +300 favorite  in NBA betting with bet365 to win back-to-back MVP titles. and is certain to bag you a ton of points this year in your fantasy team. The main tip here is that you need to stay active and check your roster almost every day to check that you don’t have any idle or useless players. Time is money. Or points, in this case.

Get To Know The League You’re Playing In

The rules and scoring system will dictate how you draft and manage your team. The large majority of leagues use a 9 category system in which drafted players accumulate stats relating to their turnovers, blocks, steals, assists, rebounds, 3 point shots made, total points scored, free throw percentage and field goal percentage. It’s also imperative that you find out whether your league is based on head-to-head competition or on a rotisserie basis. For many leagues and team owners, H2H is the preferred arrangement and this involves two teams playing each other for a week in order to win as many categories as possible. If your league is H2H based then keeping on top of your transfers is a must.

Drum Up a Memorable Team Name

OK, this one is just for fun and doesn’t have any impact on your teams overall performance but it doesn’t hurt to have an inventive team name. It’s difficult to come up with something from scratch which is both witty and intimidating at the same time. Thankfully, there are plenty of ideas out there for draw inspiration from and some leagues are even known to hand out prizes for the most imaginative team names.

Most Importantly – Have Fun

There’s nothing wrong with getting a little competitive when it comes to fantasy sports. After all, if you’re not playing to win then there’s little point in entering the time-consuming and fiddly world of fantasy basketball. However, fantasy leagues are all about having fun and it’s important to remember this as you wade through all of the stats, figures and transfers. Good luck.
