The Fantasy Edge 2019 Week 1: Settlement

Welcome to our first season podcast of The Fantasy Edge. The first month of the NFL is something like an extension of preseason and September is where a texture develops for every team in the league. The same goes for fantasy. We begin to see how teams really utilize the players we picked in the draft. Sometimes for better and sometimes for worse.

Jonathan Chan, Kevin Hou, Richard Savill are your hosts for fantasy advice and insights.

In this podcast we discuss:

Ezekiel Elliott and Melvin Gordon

Elliott appears closer to a settlement with the Cowboys, but Melvin Gordon is trending toward a longer holdout – perhaps deep into the season.

Roster Cut Earthquake and Andrew Luck

August 31st was one of the wildest roster cut Saturdays we’ve ever seen in fantasy. The immediate impact stormed across draft boards as trades, cuts and IR placings affected recent and fantasy drafts in progress. Andrew Luck retired on August 24th and wasn’t a part of this, but it nonetheless also came at a very fantasy unfriendly time as well because many leagues are well underway in the last two weeks before the season.

LeSean McCoy

One of the major shifts in fantasy from Roster Cut Saturday was LeSean McCoy. McCoy appeared to hold a prominent role in the Bills‘ offense, but the team decided on reducing salary cap and simply released him. The Chiefs scooped him up; impairing the values of both Damien Williams and Darwin Thompson. How severe will the impact be especially for Williams considering that Thompson was already threatening his role before McCoy?

Our Fantasy Dream Team

The guys create a dream fantasy team. Will they simply just fill up a team from the top of the rankings? There are a few surprises in store.
