Tomlin’s Tips: 2021 Week 14 Football Bets

by Michael Tomlin
2021-22 NFL Super Bowl LVI Football Bets

The 2021 Week 14 football bets are almost solely focused on the NFL as the college regular season comes to an end.

The good news is that we are profitable in college plays yet again, going 58 and 53 Against The Spread. Hopefully, my bowl picking can be as sparkling as it was last year when I was on fire.

With the NFL, I was profitable for another week in a row going 3-2 in my best bets. Now with only the pros to worry about, I think i can keep the momentum going.

As always, a simple disclaimer: sports betting should be entertainment. The 2021 Week 14 Football Bets will not make you rich. Anyone with picks saying they can make you rich is a liar and I would bet against them.

The 2021 Week 14 Football Bets will be about having fun wagering on sports while trying to stay even or break a small profit.

All of the information for the 2021 Week 14 Football Bets is up to date as of December 9th, 2021.

Tomlin’s Tips: 2021 Week 14 Football Bets

Best NFL Bets: 3-2 Last Week, 35-30 Season

Each week I will pick my five best bets for the NFL weekend. This is similar to the most famous handicapping contest in the world, The Las Vegas Supercontest, where the winner gets over a million bucks.

Cincinnati Bengals +2 vs. San Francisco 49ers

I think the Bengals are the victim of a misleading outcome last week. It looks like they got their doors blown off, but they basically spotted the Chargers 24 points off of unlucky turnovers. Cincy came back to make it 24-22 still until a fumble returned for a touchdown broke the doors open. Put it this way: if you gave the newly instituted 2.5 points for home-field advantage, and this game was in San Francisco, you would hammer the Bengals all day getting seven points.

Cleveland Browns -2.5 vs. Baltimore Ravens

Baltimore remains the luckiest team in the league with two more wins than they would have on average and a 6-2 record in coin flip games. It bit them in the butt last week and I think that continues. I mean, Baltimore only has two real wins that were not super close games. Cleveland also is in a great spot as they are playing the Ravens for the second game in a row surrounding a bye week. So that means the Browns have focused solely on Baltimore for almost a month.

Atlanta Falcons +3 at Carolina Panthers

This is another rematch of a game earlier this season that Carolina won 19-13. In fact, that was Carolina’s only win against a starting quarterback in almost three months. While that does not seem like a good sign for the Falcons, what is a great sign is that Carolina fired their offensive coordinator Joe Brady in the middle of the bye week. I think there is massive turmoil in the Carolina locker room, and it will show on Sunday.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers -3 vs. Buffalo Bills

How many wins does Buffalo have against teams with a winning record currently? That answer is one, against the Chiefs when Kansas City was in their swoon. Buffalo is 1-4 against winning teams right now, and a few of them have not been close. Tampa Bay, on the other hand, is rolling right now, especially at home. The Bucs are averaging over 38 points per game at home, are undefeated, and have an average victory margin of victory of 21.6 points per game. If you discount the Cowboys game in Week 1, their margin of victory is almost four touchdowns. They win easily here.

Washington Football Team +4.5 vs. Dallas Cowboys

This is the ultimate trap game for Dallas. They are coming off a road win with extra rest, giving points to a team with an inferior quarterback. However, both Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard are banged up and Washington has the third-best rush defense in the league. They are going to make Dak Prescott beat them, and boy is he having a hard time doing that right now. Dak has had just a single game with a QBR above 45 in the last two months. He has looked lost at times, missing wide-open receivers. Taylor Heinicke actually has the better QBR on the season.

Other NFL Games Picked: 5-4 Last Week, 69-61 Season

(HOME teams in CAPS)

  • VIKINGS -3 over Steelers
  • Raiders +10 over CHIEFS
  • JETS +6 over Saints
  • TITANS -8 over Jaguars
  • Seahawks -7 over TEXANS
  • BRONCOS -8.5 over Lions
  • Giants +10.5 over CHARGERS
  • Bears +13 over PACKERS
  • CARDINALS -2.5 over Rams

NFL 10-Point Teaser of the Week: 1-0 Last Week, 8-5 Season

Football Team +14.5, Bengals +12, and Broncos +1.5

I think the Cowboys/Football team is too hard-fought of a game for a blowout. The Bengals won’t get blown out two weeks in a row, and the Broncos won’t lose to Detroit.

Others I Like: Falcons +13, Titans +2, Cardinals +7.5, Cardinals/Rams OVER 40.5 Cowboys/Football Team UNDER 59, and Chiefs/Raiders OVER 37.5 (6-0 Last Week, 70-8 Season)

Game total of the Week: 0-1 Last Week, 9-4 Season

Kansas City Chiefs vs. Las Vegas Raiders, OVER 47.5

Since Patrick Mahomes became the Chiefs’ starting quarterback, the Chiefs have averaged 36 points per game, never scoring less than 28 in a game. The total in those games has averaged 56 points per game and would have crossed this number six of the seven meetings.

College Best Bets: 6-5 Last Week, 58-53 Season

Navy Midshipmen +8 vs. Army Black Knights, OVER 33.5

So the best bet in college football has been taking the underdog and under in games between two service academies. While I am fully on board with getting more than a touchdown, I am zagging on the total. The under has covered thirteen straight times in this series, however more than half of those games would have covered this number. The book has pushed the line down too far now.
