Tomlin’s Tips: 2021 Week 18 Football Bets

by Michael Tomlin
2021-22 NFL Super Bowl LVI Football Bets

As we head into the 2021 Week 18 football bets, you need to find motivation. Which NFL teams are motivated to play hard and win?

Sometimes you need to keep it simple with your football handicapping. You will see that with my National Championship pick as well.

As always, a simple disclaimer: sports betting should be entertainment. The 2021 Week 18 Football Bets will not make you rich. Anyone with picks saying they can make you rich is a liar and I would bet against them.

The 2021 Week 18 Football Bets will be about having fun wagering on sports while trying to stay even or break a small profit.

All of the information for the 2021 Week 18 Football Bets is up to date as of January 6th, 2022.

Tomlin’s Tips: 2021 Week 18 Football Bets

Best NFL Bets: 4-1 Last Week, 47-38 Season

Each week I will pick my five best bets for the NFL weekend. This is similar to the most famous handicapping contest in the world, The Las Vegas Supercontest, where the winner gets over a million bucks.

Detroit Lions +5 vs. Green Bay Packers

Dan Campbell is building a culture in Detroit. Whether they have the first or second pick really does not mean much to him, especially in a draft without a sure-fire NFL starting quarterback. Aaron Rodgers will probably only play a couple of series. I would imagine the other stars for the Packers don’t play much more than that. Campbell also is aware of the spread and his team’s record against it.

Minnesota Vikings -3 vs. Chicago Bears

Mike Zimmer and Kirk Cousins are going to try their darndest to win this game. They both might be playing/coaching for their jobs or for their next employer. The Bears seem better than they are for blowing out arguably the worst team in the league right now. Minnesota is also still the unluckiest team in the league. If their coin flip game record was flipped, then they would be 11-5.

New England Patriots -6 at Miami Dolphins

In the last 21 years, how many times has Bill Belichick lost to an AFC East team twice in the same season? That would be once. And it was with Cam Newton’s carcass and Jarrett Stidham’s inaccuracy. After how unlucky the Patriots were to lose Week One, I am guessing they come out focused and ready to dominate. The Dolphins were fool’s gold for the past two months and Tua was exposed last week. Think of what the Patriots’’ defense can do to the over-rated quarterback.

Pittsburgh Steelers +6 at Baltimore Ravens

When is the last time that Baltimore looked like a good team? They have not beaten a possible playoff team in over ten weeks. They also have not won a game by a touchdown since Week Six. Lamar Jackson is hobbled even if he plays and I think this game is super-low scoring and too tight to give almost a touchdown.

San Francisco 49ers +4.5 at Los Angeles Rams

San Francisco has beaten the Rams five straight times and I think it is meaningful with Sean McVay formerly working on Kyle Shanahan. Matthew Stafford has looked awful for a few weeks and there is a chance he is ailing with something that has not been made public. I do not care who is at quarterback for the 49ers, I think they win this game on the ground.

Other NFL Games Picked: 6-5 Last Week, 94-78 Season

(HOME teams in CAPS)

  • EAGLES +8 over Cowboys
  • BRONCOS +11 over Chiefs
  • Colts -15.5 over JAGUARS
  • BILLS -16 over Jets
  • BUCCANEERS -8 over Panthers
  • TEXANS +11 over Titans
  • Football Team -6.5 over GIANTS
  • FALCONS +4.5 over Saints
  • Bengals +6.5 over BROWNS
  • CARDINALS -6.5 over Seahawks
  • Chargers -3 over RAIDERS

NFL 10-Point Teaser of the Week: 1-0 Last Week, 11-6 Season

Buccaneers +2, Cardinals +3.5, and 49ers +14.5

I like all of the NFC playoff teams that need to win for seeding.

Others I Like: Lions +15, Patriots +4, Colts -5.5, Chargers/Raiders OVER 37, Browns/Bengals UNDER 51.5, and Ravens/Steelers UNDER 53 (5-1 Last Week, 91-11 Season)

Game total of the Week: 1-0 Last Week, 13-4 Season

Cleveland Browns vs. Cincinnati Bengals, UNDER 41.5

There is no Baker Mayfield or Joe Burrow or Joe Mixon in this game. Neither defense has been playing particularly well either, so I do not see a defensive touchdown. I think it is just 60 minutes of boring, nothingness.

College Best Bets: 6-4 Last Week, 20-20 Bowls, 59-54 Regular Season

Alabama Crimson Tide +3 vs. Georgia Bulldogs

Sometimes handicaps are really simple. We just saw this exact matchup on a neutral field a month ago. Bama blew the Bulldogs’ doors off early and waltzed to an easy victory. Alabama also got away with an extremely vanilla offensive gameplan against Cincinnati and will have a much more exotic look. Lastly, you are getting points with Nick Saban and Alabama. Just like I said in the first matchup, you might feel stupid for not taking them.
