Each week I will play my five best bets for the NFL weekend. This is similar to the most famous handicapping content in the world, The Las Vegas Supercontest, where the winner gets over a million bucks.
The Tomlin Lock of the Week (0-3 season, -6.6 Units)
Minnesota Vikings -3 at Carolina Panthers
We have two 0-3 teams playing but the road team is the favorite. What makes me lay with them? Well, I think the Vikings have become drastically under-valued.
Minnesota lost Week 1 to Tampa Bay which does not seem great. However, remember that they lost the turnover battle 3-0 including one in each Red Zone, and still only lost by three points.
They then lost back-to-back coin flip games in which they made bad decisions late against playoff teams from last year. Now they are playing the team that picked first overall in the draft with either a hobbled Bryce Young or ginger Red Rifle Andy Dalton.
The Vikings are 5th in offensive EPA per play and 7th in success rate. They will score all day on Carolina who cannot score back.
