Warriors Trade D’Angelo Russell to Timberwolves For Andrew Wiggins, Picks

on

You have got to love the NBA Trade Deadline! The two worst teams in the Western Conference just completed a pretty big trade. The Golden State Warriors traded D’Angelo Russell to Minnesota Timberwolves for Andrew Wiggins and draft picks.

Andre Drummond was just traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers!

Yesterday we had a multi-team trade go down that sent Clint Capela to the Atlanta Hawks and the Wolves own Robert Covington to the Houston Rockets. The Denver Nuggets were also involved which landed Malik Beasley in Minnesota.

We have also seen the Miami Heat acquire Andre Iguodala and Jae Crowder from the Memphis Grizzlies for Justise Winslow and Dion Waiters.

How will Russell in Minnesota and Wiggins on the banged-up Warriors affect Fantasy Basketball owners? Find out below!

Minnesota Timberwolves

You have to imagine that this much-needed upgrade at the point guard position is good news for Karl-Anthony Towns. Russell is a huge upgrade over the Jeff Teague‘s and Shabazz Napier‘s of the NBA.

The Wolves already play at a top-ten pace in the NBA and we know D’Angelo likes to push the ball and does it well.

The acquisition of Malik Beasley should be good for him and is worth an add in Fantasy Basketball. The Denver Nuggets depth limited Beasley. He was featured in Travis’ Week 17 Weekly Planner and should have a larger role with the T’wolves.

Rookie guard Jarrett Culver failed to take advantage of his playing time, shooting 38.6% FG / 27.2% 3PT / 45.3% FT

Golden State Warriors

The Warriors currently have nine players on their roster, including the injured Steph Curry and Klay Thompson. Remember, they also just traded Alec Burks and Glenn Robinson III to the Philadelphia 76ers for future second-round draft picks and Willie Cauley-Stein was traded to the Dallas Mavericks.

Somebody has to suit up for the Warriors, but I don’t know if I want to go out and stash any of these guys on my bench if I am fighting for a playoff spot outside of Paschall.

Paschall is averaging 15 points per game and nearly six rebounds in three February games, including a double-double.

Lee has just been wildly inconsistent this season and unless he plays point guard is now behind Wiggins on the depth chart at shooting guard, with Paschall playing small forward and
Draymond Green at power forward.

Wiggins is either about to give up on playing basketball this season or score 30+ points for the rest of the season. Either way, I am glad I own zero shares of him.
