Week 9 Fantasy Football Injury Report

Finally! A week where you didn’t lose half your team to injuries. I hope that makes you feel a little bit better as a fantasy owner. That is unless you own(ed) Sidney Rice who was recently placed on the I.R. by the Seahawks due to a torn ACL. With the bye weeks in full force right now as well you might need some plug in players for your fantasy team let’s get right into the injuries so you know what’s what with your players. As always, if a player isn’t mentioned assume he is probable to play.

Roddy White (WR – ATL) – White is still sidelined with his high ankle sprain/hamstring injury. He hasn’t practices so far this week and is once again looking doubtful to play for the Falcons. This keeps the door wide open for Harry Douglas and Tony Gonzalez to put up some great numbers.

C.J. Spiller (RB – BUF) – After sitting out last week with that troublesome ankle injury Spiller has a chance to suit up and play this weekend against the KC Chiefs. However, the likeliest scenario is that Spiller either sits again or is on an extremely limited snap count. Spiller did put in a practice on Thursday and has gotten a vote of confidence from coach Marrone saying he “feels good” about Spiller playing. Against a terrific Kansas City defense however, the recommendation from me is to leave him on your bench in hopes that week 10 will be better for this number one fantasy draft pick.

Stevie Johnson (WR – BUF) – Johnson, for the time being, is considered questionable to play this weekend against the Chiefs. He has however said that he thinks he will play. Even with Stevie’s own vote of confidence in himself it would be a risky play because he will likely be playing banged up still. With the shaky QB play as well you might be better off giving Stevie another week on the bench.

Miles Austin (WR – DAL) – Listed as questionable with a hamstring injury it’s looking more doubtful that he will sit up against Minnesota. Seeing as Austin has the least amount of fantasy points of ANY of the active Dallas WR’s, it’s not only the right choice to bench him but you can consider dropping him at this point if you haven’t already.

James Jones (WR – GB) – After not playing in week 8 it’s looking like Jones may again be sitting in week 9 due to his troublesome knee. Jones still hasn’t practiced so far heading into week 9 but there hasn’t been much news other than that. This is one of those situations where if Jones practices at all before game time he will likely suit up. Keep an eye on him as the week progresses and I will do my best to update you via Twitter on any news I hear.

Arian Foster (RB – HOU) – After injuring his hamstring in Houston’s week 7 game in the first quarter and being unable to return we figured that the week 8 bye might have been the rest he needed to get back on the field. It’s starting to look like it may not be the case though. Right now Foster is listed as questionable for week 9 and has yet to put in a practice this week. If he does practice he will likely play even though it may be in a limited fashion.

Stephen Hill (WR – NYJ) – Stephen Hill is listed as questionable on the Jets week 9 injury report. As of Thursday Hill made his way back to practice which has me leaning towards him playing against New Orleans on Sunday. With the Saint’s offense being so high powered the Jets are most likely going to be playing catch up the entire game. This gives Hill some value as a plug in play this week with so many other teams on bye. As a fantasy coach you could do worse at WR.

Marshawn Lynch (RB – SEA) – Beast Mode may be eating his Skittles on the sideline this week. After not practicing on Wednesday due to a knee injury. After limiting Lynch to just nine touches last week another limited role may be in the works for him. This will be another situation to monitor as the week goes on and I’ll do my best to keep you updated. Just make sure to check his status before game time.

Zac Stacy (RB – STL) – After having his first 100 yard game of his young career Stacy has popped up on the injury report with an ankle injury. He is listed as questionable for the game Sunday against Tennessee. If he is unable to suit up look for Daryl Richardson to get the majority of starter snaps.

Notable Players Out for Week 9: Doug Martin (RB – TB), Rashard Mendenhall (RB – ARI), Michael Vick (QB – PHI)
